Primary Purpose:

The Materials Clerk/Production Stocker is responsible for various processes in the packaging line and following all GMP, food safety and workplace safety requirements in accordance with Schuman Cheese Mission and Values, working with Commitment, Honesty and Integrity, Pride, be Adaptable and Innovative.

Responsibilities:

• Equipment assembly, operation, and disassembly.
• Ensure quality and safety procedures are always followed.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work area.
• Complete all required quality checks.
• Ensure all documentation is accurate and complete.
• Various sanitation and clean up duties.
• Keep line supplied with appropriate raw materials to keep running per product specifications.
• Move raw material physically into the production area, including moving units with a pallet jack and unboxing, lifting, inspection, and tracking of all raw materials.
• Enter each unit moved into production by noting the license plate and weight in the consumption log.
• Place pallet tags for each unit consumed in the work order folder.
• Notes the amount of raw material returned for each raw material that is not completely consumed on the pallet tags for units returned to the warehouse.
• Enter partial quantities used (license plate and weight) at the start and end of each work order into the consumption log.
• Enter quantities of trim produced, bulk product consumed, and raw materials rejected into the system (where needed) and consumption log.
• Assist the Production Supervisor to coordinate logging the correct number of cases produced into both the consumption log and production report spreadsheets at the end of each work order, basing the number of cases produced on data noted on the top tier tally sheet.
• Assist the Production Supervisor in analyzing the yield for each raw material item after entering the total cases produced into the consumption log and investigating yield percentages that appear incorrect.
• Cross-train in other production areas and provide break relief as needed.
• Maintain responsibility for the quality and food safety of products.
• Bring food safety and quality problems to the immediate attention of Schuman personnel with authority to initiate action.

Education, Experience, Qualities and Skills Required:

• High school diploma, or equivalent.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions/policies/procedures in written, verbal, or diagram form in English.
• Ability to accurately inventory raw materials between work orders and assist the Material and Scheduling Manager as necessary.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a team environment.
• Cheese cutting and wrapping experience is a plus.
• Ability to speak, read and write in English.
• Must have strong excel and computer skills.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, on occasion up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to perform repetitious, production-line types of work.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Able to work inside a freezer or cooler and in cheese processing environment temperatures (32 – 52 degrees F).
• Able to use pallet jacks and hand jacks.
• Able to work with tree nuts, milk, and egg allergens.
