Major and established international company has an opportunity at one of their large plants which is located near Savannah, GA for aProduction Area Manager – Die Casting. In this role will direct the activities of Production Supervisors, Group Leads, and other Lead positions to maximize production volume, maintain schedules, ensure safe operation of all machines and equipment, and to optimize cost and quality considerations.In this capacity will have 8 or 9 direct reports. Will assist withbudget and P&L.It is a high pressure aluminum die casting environment as well as machining and assembly that is also high volume / high complexity. Relocation assistance is available and there is bonus potential. There is also promotion potential. Very large capital investments were made in the plant last year and so far this year. 

Job Responsibilities

Monitors and determines manufacturing costs and outlay, quality and quantity of goods produced, production methods, tooling applications, and ensures the effective use of production hours, skills, machines, equipment and facilities

Participates in planning production schedules, technical requirements and manufacturing controls related to all manufacturing operations

Expedites scheduled production, investigates and resolves delays and initiates corrective action.

Coordinates operations-related programs such as manufacturing methods, cost reduction initiatives, preventive and regular maintenance, training, staffing, safety and housekeeping

Administers company rules, regulations and policies

Participates in the budgeting process, monitors and reports on manufacturing performance as it relates to budgetary guidelines

Participates in the selection and acquisition of capital equipment for the production area

Performs full range of managerial responsibilities which may include but not be limited to: interviewing, hiring, coaching and developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; EEO/AA; performance management; department budget

Performs other duties as assigned

Job Skills Requirements

Broad knowledge of manufacturing and quality principles and familiarity with labor-intensive die casting, machining, fabrication and assembly operations; may require knowledge of warehouse management

Strong supervisory skills and the ability to manage a diverse group of employees in a manufacturing environment

Working knowledge of manufacturing management programs

Working knowledge of employee relations issues and/or collective bargaining agreements in both union and non-union environments

Demonstrated superior verbal and interpersonal communications skills in order to motivate and manage a diverse group of individuals in a variety of positions

Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning systems

Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Production Management orrelated field is preferred

Will also consider high school graduate with relevant experience to the role

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in die casting
• Must have at least 5 years of senior supervisory experience
• Must be a very good leader with good people skills
• Must have at least one of the following types of die casting: high pressure aluminum, gravity pour, or permanent mold / loss foam and zinc casting will also be considered
• Must be able to give PowerPoint presentations
• SAP experience is preferred – but will consider other ERP system experience
• Budget and P&L experience a plus
• Assembly and machining process experience a plus
• Must have good organization skills
• Must be able to figure out efficiencies
