Impact Solutions is Hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Manager - Machining & Assembly Near Columbus, GA

Position Description

Major international and brand name company has a newly created opportunity for an Engineering Manager at a large manufacturing facility located in a east central AL in a metropolitan area. In this role will manage, plan, organize, and coordinate the activities of assigned engineering group. Will foster the development of new manufacturing technologies, process / continuous improvement initiatives, new product ideas/concepts/designs, test validation and cost reduction programs for new and existing engine/product programs. The environment is high volume and includes both machining and assembly as well as automation.  There is 12% bonus potential which could go higher.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supports and guides product engineering teams in ongoing development within their assigned area
  • Supervises and coordinates product research, testing, design and development if applicable
  • Promotes the New Product Development process and ensures consistent use
  • Interfaces with customers regarding part and product design, manufacturing and quality control issues, which fosters relationships
  • Maintains knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Reports regularly on project status, ensures budgets are on track, manages customer satisfaction data and other staff activities
  • Develops and initiates new technologies, process improvement initiatives and cost reduction programs
  • Proposes business solutions related to product safety initiatives, annual strategic/situational planning, long-term planning and supplier relationship agreements
  • Performs full range of managerial responsibilities which may include but not be limited to: interviewing, hiring, coaching and developing engineers; planning, assigning and directing work; EEO/AA, performance management, department budget
  • Manages and lead manufacturing engineers to meet established KPIs
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Skills Requirements:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of engineering, testing and manufacturing processes related to product and/or manufacturing processes
  • Ability to effectively solve problems with diverse groups of people
  • Strong interpersonal, written communication and problem solving skills to effectively interface with engineers, managers and customers
  • Well-developed leadership and planning skills as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Fundamental knowledge of statistics and reliability concepts
  • Strong team building skills
  • Ability to develop and coordinate activities of others and to focus on major project resources to ensure assignments are completed accurately, on time, and on budget
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location
  • Project management skill set; experience in buying capital equipment, running off/qualifying and installation to meet agreed upon deadlines
  • Experience in work flow improvements and line balancing to meet takt time for customer demand
  • Experience in transfer equipment
  • Good understanding of Industrial engineering utilization
  • Engine manufacturing experience preferred, not required
  • Proven track record of improving under performing processes
  • Understanding critical components for management of spare parts to reduce downtime
  • Extensive PFMEA, Control Plan, and Error-proofing development

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent education and experience

Experience Requirements:

Seven years of engineering experience

Must have both machining and assembly experience

Prior management or supervisory experience

Automation experience is preferred

Certifications preferred

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

Domestic and/or international travel as required up to 10%
