Schedule: Schedule: 8am-5pm Tuesday - Saturday [1st week of training will be Mon-Friday same hours]

Physical Demands: Requires utilization of fingers and hands, standing-remaining on one’s feet in an upright position, sitting-remaining in the normal seated position, handling-seizing, holding, grasping, lifting, pushing, pulling. Requires the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Working Conditions: There is regular exposure to potential blood-borne pathogens. Lab Assistants will be working in high volume, production-based environments performing a vital component of clinical lab science. Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred. • Comfortability with handling biological specimens. • Ability to accurately identify specimens. • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills. • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask. • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turn-around times. • Strong communication skills: both written and verbal. • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. • Must pass a standardized color blindness test. • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Position Summary: Performs tasks associated with specimen management including receiving samples, loading and unloading automation, and storage. Essential Job Duties: • Assists with loading and unloading of specimens on the Hamilton pipetting instruments including capping and uncapping samples, labeling aliquot tubes, pulling errors, and sorting aliquots. • Receive and sort clinical lab specimens. • Sorts specimens into appropriate station for manual pipetting. • Returns specimens to appropriate locations. • Performs discard and relocation of specimen racks. • Prepare specimens for testing and analysis. • Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information. • Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance. • Troubleshoot any specimen related issues. • Replenish test bench supplies as needed. • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. • Adheres to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of Esoterix, CLIA, CAP and other regulatory bodies. • Documents all quality assurance activities as necessary including preventative maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting, and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance. • Follows any other job-related instructions and performs any other job-related duties requested by department management.
