Engineer level 1 to Sr. Engineer- Production – Prop Shaft
Major and established international company has an Engineer opportunity at their large manufacturing complex commutable to the east of the Atlanta metropolitan area. There are very good benefits and 1-2% bonus potential as well. Compensation varies based on amount of experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
·Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
·Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
·Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
·Create manning plans based on volume forecasts for new programs.
·Gives input to product design based on design for manufacture/design for assembly philosophy.
·Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
·Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
·Develop and document quality system for new programs (control plan, PFMEA, process flow, work instructions, and inspection plans.)
·Coordinate and document all Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities.
·Calculate required dunnage usage. Design, test and order all necessary dunnage for new programs.
·Develop and maintain documentation such as downtime, scrap, and efficiencies.
·Utilize data such as downtime, scrap, efficiencies, etc. to plan and strategize countermeasures for equipment and process problems.
·Leads or participates in Kaizen activities to ensure continuous improvement in processes, products, components, raw materials, and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
·Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with at least 1 year Engineering experience. 8 or more years of experience required at the Sr. level.
Experience in automotive manufacturing industry is preferred.
Assembly process experience is needed
Industrial paint process experience in a high volume environment is needed to fit the role at the Sr. Engineer level
·Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
·Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly and production equipment.
·Problem analysis and problem resolution.
·Familiarity with current automotive standard and OSHA regulations.
·Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
·Excellent organizational skills.
·Ability to motivate team efforts to accomplish goals.
·Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Some Access experience preferred.
Controls and robotics experience a plus
Other experience of value: Poka Yokes implementation, continuous improvement, APQP, PFMEA, root cause analysis, AutoCAD and Solid Works
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Required to sit or stand and move about the facility. Occasional lifting of items not to exceed 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Combination of office and plant environment. May be required to use safety glasses and wear steel toe shoes while performing specific tasks or while in specific manufacturing areas.
