The Database Developer does the following tasks:

Modifying databases and products according to client needs.

Working to create functional requirements.

Providing assistance to others in topics related to data management.

Creating reports on databases.

Designing and developing database architectures.

Work in this position is characterized by working collaboratively, originality in logical thinking, good interpersonal skills, and effective capacity for giving and receiving instruction and training. It requires considerable analysis of complex facts as well as the ability to assimilate and develop ETL functionality. It also requires the ability to assimilate new information rapidly.

B. Responsibilities:

1. Principal Duties, Functions:

Provide technical design and functional specifications for ETL applications, identifies data requirements, analyzes options and alternatives, and evaluates functionality and integrity of data and applications.

Design and develop, including coding and debugging, procedures/functions/packages/classes in MariaDB/MySQL.

Design and develop simple web based applications using appropriate technologies for fulfilling user requirement for data loads, extracts, data dumps and other utilities.

Design, develop and implement high level methodologies, relational database systems, and other capabilities to support web and client/server based architecture.

Write complex SQL statements for large scale databases.

May assist in the preparation of project plans and resource projections for all activities performed within the framework of a given project. This includes defining project scope as well as preparing work plans for the project.

Prepares status reports and attends meetings to convey project progress and targeted needs.

Recommends modifications to development plans as requirements/needs deem appropriate.

Makes presentations or conducts training on new or changed systems for both users and departmental employees.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Selection Requirements:

Education: Minimum of B.S. in Computer Science or related computing specialization.

Experience: 3 - 5 years’ experience

Special Skills: MariaDB, MySQL, SQL, PL/SQL, Java
