IN-OFFICE | FULL-TIME
We are recruiting for a Construction Estimator for our client, a leader in the Chattanooga construction market. Our client focuses on large, complex renovations and custom new construction. Their signature craftsmanship is anchored by an in-house team of craftspeople excelling in construction management, woodworking, and carpentry.
The Construction Estimator will gather, evaluate, and then prepare detailed total cost information during the construction bid process. They will analyze proposals, specifications, blueprints, and construction documents in order to understand the project

Pay: $70,000 - $85,000 per year
Requirements for the Construction Estimator position:
  • Supporting and working with preconstruction/business development staff in the review of project plans, requirements, and specifications.
  • Reporting directly to and collaborating with the director of pre-construction services as well as company president and related staff. 
  • Reviewing blueprints, plans, and specifications in order to understand the project as a whole.
  • Preparing detailed scope of work write-ups and supporting documents.
  • Understanding contractual terms and conditions.
  • Providing clear, detailed quantity take-offs, using take-off software (Stack, or similar).
  • Organizing site visits, sub-contractors quotations, negotiating to insure quotes meet contract documents and issuing proper documented purchase orders.
  • Providing all subcontractors with drawings and specifications prior to the bid process (RFPs), and managing that process.
  • Completing budgeting and scheduling for projects and tracking same.
  • Monitoring progress, requisition change orders and identifying any potential risks.
  • Estimating time, labor, construction materials, and product costs to determine the overall cost for construction projects.
  • Assembling accurate and well-organized estimates and proposals in a timely manner .
  • Maintaining relationships with subcontractors and clients.
  • Ensuring site personnel are provided with proper documentation related to project.
  • Working with and dealing with concerns of field personnel as it relates to works in progress and the related estimate..
  • Providing and maintaining unit pricing and database for material and labor costing.
  • Formulating cost breakdown from estimates and for project progress.
  • Meeting with potential clients to discuss options for proposed services
Requirements for the Construction Estimator position:
  • 5 years’ experience working in the construction field in similar or related position.
  • Previous experience estimating projects into the $1-5 million range, and beyond.
  • Skilled with estimating ground-up, residential renovation, and commercial build-out construction.
  • Practical knowledge of estimating software and spreadsheet design.
  • Ability to use CAD programs
  • Ability to write, manage, and respond to RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs.
  • Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Critical thinking skills
  • High personal organizational skills
  • History of project management experience is a plus.
