Growing boutique Accounting Firm on the Nassau/Suffolk border is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/Office Manager. The position will require you to handle the accounting functions during the busy season and throughout the year

This position requires you to be in the office full time in Woodbury, NY

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and balance general ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies.
• Provide financial status information by preparing special reports; completing special projects.
• Correct errors by posting adjusting journal entries.
• Prepare financial statements and reports.
• Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures; complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
• Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
• Reconcile bank statements by comparing statements with general ledger.
• Maintain financial security by following internal controls.
• Prepare payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Strong knowledge of QuickBooks and other accounting software.
• Excellent 10-key typing skills for data entry accuracy.
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles including double-entry bookkeeping, debits, credits, and general ledger reconciliation.
• Experience in public accounting is a plus.
• Familiarity with Xero or other similar accounting platforms is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
