JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are in partnership with a well-established firm that has been in business for over 100 years. They are looking for an Assistant controller to help them provide high-level support to the Corporate Controller of the firm. Moreover, this position will help manage the company's accounting and financial activities including: producing financial summary statements, forecasting the firm's financial health and correcting inaccuracies, and ensuring the accounting systems comply with the firm's internal control and takes the necessary steps to minimize the risk to the organization. 

Essential Job functions/ Duties:

• Responsible for the timely completion of the monthly and annual closings of the general ledger and preparation of related financial statements and supporting and analytical schedules.
• Prepares and reviews entries to the general and subsidiary ledgers to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance with the company’s policies and established accounting principles.
• Prepares and reviews supporting and analytical schedules to support the Company’s financial reporting requirements.
• Administers the preparation of interim, year-end, and comparative financial reports; performs and provides analysis of current results to prior periods and/or budget. 
• Prepares required schedules for periodic audit, tax and government reports as assigned and responds to inquiries as necessary.
• Designs and implements improvements to existing systems, processes and policies.
• Enforces adherence to established policies and processes.
• Designs and implements improvements to the company’s internal controls to minimize risk.
• Coordinates the interim and year-end financial audits, periodic tax filings and periodic internal audits.
• Manages the preparation of schedules and documents for the auditors and third party tax preparer.
• Account for Timber operations.
• Oversees trains and manages the accounting & AP staff.
• Drive the ERP implementation to ensure accuracy, efficiency and best practice are maintained.
• Stays current with developments, practice trends and regulations in the accounting profession.
• Performs other accounting duties and projects, as required or directed.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Certifications/Licenses, and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. 
• Master’s degree and CPA license are preferred.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with people at various levels within the company are essential, as are good leadership skills.
• Advanced skills in Excel is required. 
• Experience with large ERP system (SAP, Oracle, etc) is highly preferred.
