SummaryThe Quality Assurance Technician supports the manufacturing process by using validated techniques and quality-based methods to ensure processes, raw materials, products and packaging operations are within specified guidelines. By performing laboratory procedures, product inspections and packaging audits this role helps to ensure that our candy products meet/surpass strict quality guidelines and keep our customers happy! Must be a decisive trouble-shooter capable of making data-driven decisions as warranted.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Performs a variety of analytic tests and audits to ensure ingredients, finished products and packaging comply with order specifications and quality/food safety polices to including regulatory compliance, HACCP, GMP’s and SQF.
  • Accurately and efficiently documents and records various measurements and test results in compliance with record keeping policies and requirements.
  • Professionally and effectively communicates and collaborates with internal departments as warranted to ensure needed product or packaging adjustments and enacted.
  • Demonstrates commitment to food safety and continuous improvements through the thorough and accurate completion and documentation of assigned duties.
  • Following existing processes, verifies performance of sanitation processes for Pre-OP and allergen cleans prior to releasing for production start.
  • Audits and cross-checks documents, labeling criteria and record keeping requirements to ensure product and packing specifications have been met prior to shipment of finished goods.
  • Programs, operates and monitors drying room cycles to ensure optimum product quality specifications, determining and enacting needed adjustments based from collected data sources.
  • Following product retention policies, collects and inspects product samples for marketing purposes and to meet internal testing requirements.
Qualifications
  • Science related Associates Degree or equivalent experience
  • One year experience working in a regulatory compliance environment
  • Strong employee relations, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, planning and process skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office suite, especially Excel
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment or similar industry preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • There are no supervisory responsibilities with this role.
Computer SkillsKnowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge and experience using an ERP system is a plus. Ability to learn other application software essential to performing job tasks.
Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
