IMMUNE DEFICIENCY FOUNDATION INC. is Hiring a Community Resource Navigator Near Hanover, MD

Position Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the IDF representative and initial point of contact for new members to the IDF and PI communities.
  • Direct incoming requests via Ask IDF, from individuals with PI, families, and healthcare professionals by working cross-functionally to provide accurate information and support, including specialist location, medical/treatment questions, insurance navigation, programming inquiries, and resources outside of the Foundation.
  • Track trends reported by the PI community to ensure patients have access to care and identify the particular health care needs of individuals in a specific community or target area and report issues to the appropriate department.
  • Remain abreast of relevant advancements in diagnosis and treatment and current events and ensure effective translation and promotion to the PI community.
  • Serve as the organization’s liaison with individuals diagnosed with PI and family
  • Manage the data records and document engagement, inclusive of demographic characteristics, history and extent of disease, diagnostic procedures, or
  • Collaborate with internal staff to ensure necessary program planning, development, and management activities function efficiently.
  • Occasional travel required to participate in PI Conference and Educational Events
  • Other duties as

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in health education, public relations, or human services, preferably in a medical field.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Program Specialist, Patient Advocate, Patient Navigator, or relevant position.
  • Knowledge of insurance/Medicare/Medicaid/specialty pharmacies is a plus
  • Excellent human relations
  • Experience in working in a culturally diverse community
  • A considerable amount of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed to perform the essential functions of this role.

Technical Requirements:

Proficiency in the following software programs is necessary for this role:

  • Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Internet Browsers (Chrome, Internet Explorer)
  • Salesforce or similar CRM software
  • Project management software

The Community Resource Navigator is responsible for the initial intake and triage of queries and outreach from the PI Community. This individual will manage incoming calls and requests for information, support, and resources on primary immunodeficiencies (PI) and related conditions and transfer constituents to appropriate staff as necessary. This role is a key component of IDF's direct services/core mission of programming, ensuring excellent customer service and engagement with our community. This position is considered remote with occasional required travel to the home office in Hanover, Maryland for meetings and events.
