Children's Ministry Coordinator

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Children's Ministry Coordinator at Immanuel works to enhance, inspire, and nurture children and their families in the Christian faith. This position focuses on children ages birth through fifth grade.

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will meet the following description:

• A Christ-centered individual who is called to the vocation of children and family ministry
• Prior experience and/or who has received training in children’s ministry, volunteer coordination, and other related areas of ministry is preferred, but not required
• Prior experience working with children
• Works collaboratively with key leaders to develop ministry
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• A self-motivated leader, capable of working independently to strengthen our children’s program

COMPENSATION:

This is a part-time position (approximately 5-10 hours per week) without benefits. Compensation will be based on the education and experience of the ideal candidate.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY & EXPECTATIONS:

• Regular attendance and participation in worship is expected.
• Assist in worship from time-to-time including children’s sermons.
• Strengthen the ministry by developing, implementing and evaluating age-appropriate programs, activities, and events for children and families.
• Recruit, train, and encourage adults, parents and older youth to participate in various activities:
• Assist with the development of spiritual growth opportunities – Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Christmas Program, GIFT Sundays and other small group ministries for children, parents, and families
• Promote and encourage participation in Camp Onamia, conference, synod and national events
• Lead fundraising opportunities
• Create agenda for, and lead a monthly Children’s Ministry Committee meeting
• Clear, effective and timely communication and publicity is essential for the success of programs and participation in them:
• Work with office staff to prepare/post/mail/distribute appropriate publicity for Children’s Ministry events and activities
• Write monthly article for The Epistle to publicize and highlight Children’s Ministry activities and events
• Assist with the development and maintenance of the Children’s Ministry web page
• Maintain a Children’s Ministry database
• Maintain budget and provide accounting at monthly meetings

ACCOUNTABILITY AND SUPERVISION

• The Pastor is the direct supervisor of the qualified candidate
• Collaborate with the Children’s Ministry Committee members
• Attend weekly staff meetings
• Prepare annual ministry report and attend Annual Congregation Meeting
• Office hours are agreed upon between the qualified candidate and the Pastor and Congregation Council

Job Type: Part-time

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Weekends as needed

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Children: 1 year (Preferred)
