Scope

Independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.

Works on a major project or several projects of moderate scope with complex features.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Responsible to maintain project schedules, deadlines, and budgets.
  • Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features.
  • Perform complex surveys and complete projects as assigned.
  • Research historic maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title information as needed.
  • Follow accepted legal principals to compare and verify current measurements and resolve boundary disputes.
  • Prepares new parcel plats and legal descriptions.
  • Perform staking computations and create exhibits.
  • Supervises, participates in, and approves the reduction of survey field notes and calculations.
  • Assists in training junior staff members.

Required Skills / Abilities :

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents with excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated aptitude to understand calculations, alignments, and instructions for field work.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD C3D software functionality to prepare survey plats and exhibits.
  • Must maintain thorough understanding of IMEG survey equipment, survey. practices, and survey software programs including GPS surveying practices.
  • Effectively communicate with clients, officials, contractors, and others.
  • Self-motivated with good time management.
  • Travel may be required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Land Surveying, or minor in Land Surveying.
  • Meet state specific licensure requirements for experience, education, and pass NCEES LS exam.
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier.
