WHO IS AN IDEAL FIT:

• You idiomatically apply JavaScript and TypeScript in various runtime environments to ensure secure and performant code.

• You effectively utilize the Node.js event loop and I/O abstractions scalable, resource-efficient services.

• You implement responsive UIs using micro-frontend designs with React, CSS, and HTML5 and powered by back-end-for-front-ends.

• You create networked applications using modern API semantics and protocols with REST, GraphQL, or gRPC.

• You secure clients and APIs with OAuth and implement the correct grant types to accommodate differing security entities and scenarios.

• You speak to the purpose of unit, integration, smoke, and end-to-end testing and how to build both testable code and comprehensive test suites.

• You understand the problems solved by microservices and how to decompose monoliths toward manageable isolates.

• You employ logging and application performance metrics to monitor and diagnose anomalous system behaviors.

• You demonstrate proficiency with various data storage technologies, from PostgreSQL to NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Redis, Firebase, and Elasticsearch, and how to use them to address workload demands.

• You have utilized a "you build, you run it" mentality with at least one cloud-based host (Google Cloud, AWS, Azure).

• You have a voracious appetite for exploring new technologies and architecture paradigms—counterbalanced by a predilection for pragmatic solutions.

A SUCCESSFUL PERSON IN THIS ROLE WILL:

• Remain informed on initiatives across teams and help managers and product owners prioritize effectively.

• Champion the technology direction via outreach or reference implementations.

• Guide engineering with consideration of the entropy of software-intensive systems to prevent the Big Ball of Mud.

• Mentor associate engineers on new technologies and best practices.

• Pinpoint quality risk factors. Raise concerns when you see something introduce uncertainty.

• Stay abreast of emerging technology trends.

• Provide actionable feedback with candor and compassion to peers and leadership alike.
