Executive Center Director

Supervisor: The Executive Center Director reports to and takes direction from the Regional Operations Manager

Supervises: The Executive Center Director supervises all center staff.

Purpose/Mission:

The Executive Center Director is responsible the day to day operations of the center. The leadership of the Executive Center Director must result in a positive and healthy environment for children and staff. The Executive Center Director must ensure manage and support the center staff to provide a high-quality early education programs, while ensuring the financial success of the center.

Location:

Though assigned to a specific center, the Executive Center Director may be asked to work at alternate locations within his/her given region. In addition, travel may be required for trainings, conferences, or professional development.

Educational/Experiential Requirements:

The Executive Center Director must meet or exceed state childcare licensing requirements. It is preferred that Executive Center Directors possess an Associate Degree or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field, and at least three years’ experience as a childcare center director

Qualifications:

Knowledge of good business practices, administration, compliance regulations relating to childcare, and child development are essential for managing a child-care center. An Executive Center Director has an obligation to be prepared to hire and maintain employees, establish and maintain communication with parents, and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the children in the center. It is required that the Executive Center Director demonstrates strong leadership, problem solving, organizational and time-management skills. In addition, they must always maintain professional conduct and appearance.

Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate competency, good judgment, and self-control in the presence of children, staff and parents when performing assigned responsibilities
  • Coordinate education programs and curriculum to ensure parents/guardians are satisfied with the education and care their children receive while at the center.
  • Maintains effective communication with families to keep them apprised of center events, and conduct parent meetings as needed.
  • Maintains an accurate financial accounting of the center’s revenue, manages center budget, and protects the company’s monetary assets to ensure profitability.
  • Prepares and submits accurate payroll records.
  • Knows and implements ADA special-needs inclusion policy.
  • Oversees the center’s enrollment to maximize profitability.
  • Fosters a positive work environment by modeling appropriate and professional behavior.
  • Interview and hire new staff, ensuring they meet all policies and legal requirements.
  • Evaluates, coaches, and counsel staff
  • Maintains staff and child records compliant with licensing and company policies
  • Plans work schedules for staff to ensure staffing budgets are met.
  • Maintains the center facilities, equipment and vehicles are safe for children and comply with laws, regulation, and company policies.
  • Understands and implements emergency procedures in case of emergency situations.
  • Childcare demands physical fitness and mental acuity as staff care for children who cannot care for themselves. The executive director must be able to react quickly with sound judgement and problem solving skills in complex and critical situations.
  • Must be qualified and able to perform the duties of each staff member in the event they are absent.
  • Must be capable of lifting, carrying, and holding children weighting up to 60 pounds, up to 100 times daily.
  • Ensures the implementation of company-provided education and curriculum programs Educational/Curriculum Management
  • Tracks and maintains staff training records to ensure are trained according to company policies and state licensing regulations.
  • Implements all standards necessary to ensure a clean, safe, and healthy environment, including universal precautions.
  • Ensure kitchen and meals are in compliance with the local health department, licensing, and company policies.
