A Content Coordinator isn’t a skill that’s taught in schools. You produce stories for the website and social media. You also serve as the content distribution nucleus of the newsroom by being on the assignment desk. This is a huge responsibility and it's one of the most important things we do as journalists: determine what's important for the public, and what will be ignored.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Write accurate and clear stories for the website and social media. 
• Clip video content for web stories, 
• Create photo galleries, 
• Post on social media platforms, 
• Write and send push alerts. 
• Work on pre-planned and evergreen stories for larger station projects and initiatives. 
• Make calls to confirm stories and breaking news. 
• Closely monitor scanners and other breaking news sources. 
• Assist in coordination and movement of crews in the field. 
• Distribute reporter updates from the field to the newsroom. 
• Maintain content bank with story assignments and updates. 
• Keep list of key contacts up to date. 
• Recognize trending stories on different platforms. 
• Scour variety of sources for local stories for all platforms. 
• News is a 24-hour business, and schedules may vary. 
• Other duties may be assigned. 

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
• Someone with a creative mindset, who is organized, pays attention to detail and thrives in a fast-paced environment would do well in this position. 
• Willingness to learn and adapt to journalism. 
• Ability to define problems, collect data, and establish facts. 
• Must be thoroughly professional in all aspects of journalism. 
• Must be well-read in current affairs and have a wide range of working knowledge and understanding of general interest subjects. 
• Must be thoroughly professional in all aspects of journalism. 
• Desire to grow in your career.
