Communications Specialist
Temp-to-Hire
Mon-Thur 8:30-5 w/ 1 hr lunch
$19 per hour as a temp - $45K upon hire

This is the Hampton Coliseum, Convention Center and surrounding complex of shopping, business, restaurant, hotel and residential properties.
The right person will have the experience or background and education to become proficient in the following:

In a small office environment, you will be a member of a close knit team of 3-4 employees who report to the Board of Directors. You are intricately involved in communication strategies, advertising activities and continuous presentation of programs and initiatives across a sprawling 1900-acres that includes residential, shopping, business, and entertainment facilities. You will be involved in shaping the lively and ever-evolving atmosphere of this established hub of activity for the Hampton Roads area and beyond. Your commitment is integral to sustaining the prosperity and expansion of the wide array of amenities within the vicinity.

Must have strong Microsoft Office skills, knowledge of Canva. Perform communications and social media marketing (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, web site, etc.) to solicit participation in the organization’s programs and events. Create and maintain print and digital newsletter to communicate and promote a positive image. Keep the web site up-to-date to ensure it's ongoing development and improvements. Strong written and verbal skills required.

Community College, University education or combo of education and experience.

Proven ability to create content for social media, newsletters, advertising, issue press releases, etc. Take minutes at the board meetings.
Communicate and interact with the public and board members actively promoting a positive of and for the membership and board.
