PRIMARY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Lead the Quality department to identify product and material of nonconformance. Coordinate short term and long-term solutions to quality problems with the goal of improving overall product quality and reducing costs related to nonconformity. Support and enhance IMA Life’s Quality objectives, including ISO9001.

2. Incoming inspection

3. Supplier source inspection - will require some travel out of the local area

4. Investigate quality problems to determine route cause, and instigate corrective action

5. Recording and reporting quality data

6. Work in Process and Final product inspection

7. Supplier Assessment

8. Control and calibration of test equipment

9. Generation and maintenance of inspection, and calibration work instructions

10. Performing Internal Quality Audits

11. Actioning Nonconformance Reports and Material Reject Notes

12. Reads and interprets complicated blueprints and specifications, including customer and vendor specifications.

13. Performs critical first-piece inspections.

14. Prepares methods for cost-effective minimization of defects.

15. Trains other technicians.

16. Responsible along with all employees for acting at all times in a manner which promotes the health and safety of all personnel in direct and indirect employ, visitors to IMATonawanda and users of IMA Life’s equipment. Specifically, this involves:

· Ensuring compliance to all site safety standards, including OSHA, DOT, EPA and other legislative standards including ASME, BPE, ANSI, ISO, NEC, etc.

· Promoting safety awareness across all Quality and product safety activities.

· Participating in the implementation and maintenance of the Quality System.

17. Responsible for daily adherence to company rules.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Interface with suppliers to monitor performance and identify problem areas. Take actions as necessary to resolve problems and improve performance. Supplier education in the areas of IMA LIFE product requirements and quality control techniques. Responsible for the most difficult quality problems and collaborating with Engineering (and other key employees) to resolve.

2. Knowledge of mechanical inspection practices for large as well as small metal fabrications. Experienced in performing inspections on fabricated materials including ASME coded pressure vessels. Knowledge of metal fabrication processes. Experienced at interfacing with other departments as well as suppliers to resolve quality problems.

3. Minimum 2 year degree in an appropriated technical discipline. A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience with a manufacturing business in the field of Quality.

4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving abilities.

5. Must be Present on Premise

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

1. Overtime is required and flexibility of workdays and weekends are required.

2. Domestic and International travel will be required, several weeks during the year as the customer / project may require.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
