Duties & Responsibilities

  • Illinois Computes Program Leadership
    •Publicly and enthusiastically represent and promote the program across the UIUC campus and the University of Illinois System, by serving as one of the primary program representatives.
    •Prioritize program activities, oversee the program execution, and, if necessary, intervene to bring it back on schedule and to resolve program segment dependencies.
    •Act as a liaison to the campus and system leaders.
    •Work with the NCSA Director as needed to report to and respond to questions from the stakeholder advisory committees.
    •Enable optimum communication between the program and the other stakeholders.
    •Obtain, analyze and summarize information for NCSA, campus, system and various committee members as needed.
    •Participate and lead program meetings and provide direction to the different teams engaged in the program.
    •Prepare presentations, briefings, and reports for diverse audiences.
    •Manage and direct the budget in coordination with NCSA Director, Program Manager and NCSA finance personnel.
    •Work with colleagues at all levels, to set direction and facilitate the accomplishment of goals and outcomes of the program.
    •Participate in planning and expanding the offerings of the program for both research consulting and computing resources.
    •Identify needs and opportunities for the IL Computes Program and recommend new activities for the Program
    •Understand and follow technology road maps and assist in investment decisions.
    •Communicate regularly with other leaders on campus (department heads, unit heads etc.)
  • Leading/Managing other Projects
    •Interact with senior leadership, staff, managers, funding representatives, and internal and external stakeholders to drive accountability, escalation, and to represent the projects and/or programs assigned to this position.
    •Monitor projects’ and/or programs’ performance metrics, ensure that stakeholders are informed of project and/or program performance, and ensure the team is addressing risk areas
    •Coordinate with NCSA senior leadership, project and/or program managers, associate and assistant directors, technical program managers, project managers, team leaders, and others to ensure appropriate staffing and required expertise is available that may span several teams in multiple NCSA directorates
    •Oversee the development and execution of communication plans to raise awareness and of and participation in assigned initiatives, projects, and programs
    •Interact with campus or other funding agencies as necessary to support defined cycles of reporting, planning, measuring, etc.; this may involve presentations to campus oversight committees, funding agency review panels, and other stakeholders
    •Represent the interests of assigned projects and/or programs on committees within NCSA and/or across campus
    •Engage with national community on cyberinfrastructure (CI) program operations and directions
