    Function / Position Summary
    Throughout two school years, the Resident Administrator works collaboratively with the school principal to support the success of all students in the school, including building the professional capacity of school staff; communicating effectively with parents and the community; and supporting student learning. Inherent in this role are the responsibilities for staff evaluation, curriculum development, personnel management, emergency procedures, and facility operations. Resident administrators agree to be placed with an elementary, middle, or high school host Principal selected by District U-46. There will be one placement for the 2024-2025 school year and there may be a new placement for the 2025-2026 school year in order to provide a variety of leadership experiences. *This position requires a letter of recommendation from the applicant’s current Principal.
    Job Duties / Responsibilities
    • Support the implementation of all components of U-46 Rising and/or works to prepare the site for successful implementation of U-46 Rising in accordance with SfRE initiatives.
    • Coordinates efforts with the building principal to establish and implement a shared mission and vision for the school that is grounded in equity and leads to academic growth for all learners.
    • Supports principal in developing, implementing, and monitoring the outcomes of the school improvement plan which measure school-wide academic achievement and school climate indicators.
    • Develops, in collaboration with principal and staff, consistent instructional practices which reflect effective teaching and learning that includes a rigorous, culturally responsive, and relevant standards-based curriculum and academic teaming.
    • Establishes, in collaboration with the principal and staff, a continuous improvement cycle that uses multiple forms of data and student work samples to support individual, team, and school-wide improvement goals, identifies and addresses target areas within their 45-day goals, measures progress and outcomes, and celebrates successes.
    • In collaboration with the building principal, evaluates the effectiveness of instruction of individual teachers by conducting frequent rigor walks, formal, and informal observations, and provides timely, specific feedback on instruction as part of the district teacher appraisal system.
    • In partnership with the principal, creates, develops and sustains relationships that result in active student engagement in the learning process.
    • Utilizes meaningful feedback from students, staff, families, and community in the evaluation of instructional programs and school procedures.
    • Proactively engages families and communities in supporting student learning and the school’s shared mission, vision and learning goals.
    • With principal, creates and supports a climate that values, accepts and understands cultural diversity and multiple perspectives.
    • Works with the principal to ensure a culture of high aspirations and academic achievement for every student.
    • Consistently model positive behavior aligned to the school’s vision and mission and builds the capacity of others in the school community.
    • Works with principal to ensure a welcoming environment and a school culture that successfully develops the full range of students’ learning capacities – academic, linguistic, creative, social-emotional, behavioral and physical.
    • Takes a leadership role in the event of an emergency.
    • Actively participates in U-46 administrative meetings, site-based committee meetings, and professional learning that occur during or outside of the school day.
    • In collaboration with the principal, helps with the creation, coordination and implementation of professional development aligned with the SIP and District goals, as deemed appropriate/necessary.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Education
    • Enrollment in the Northern Illinois University Educational Administration MSEd Principal Preparation Program.
    • Professional Educator License.
    • Successful completion of all PERA module designations required to evaluate certified staff (Teacher, preferred); completion required by September 1st of current year.
    Experience / Knowledge
    • Minimum of five years teaching experience.
    • Demonstrated interest, knowledge and/or applied experience in serving culturally and linguistically diverse students.
    • Extensive knowledge of learning theory, current educational trends, program planning, curriculum development, and management of instructional programs.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
    • Experience using formative assessment and other student data to improve instruction and the provision of academic and social supports.
    • Excellent oral/written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to present information before large and small groups.
    Physical Demands
    • Will be expected to work evenings and some weekends as required by the school’s event supervision calendar.
    Terms of Employment
    • This position has a 10-month work year. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.
    Salary Information
    • The full salary range for this position is $67,044.92 - $100,572.55. It is our typical practice to hire in between the minimum and midpoint ($83,803.57).
