Illinois CancerCare is seeking a part-time (3 days per week) Certified Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacist in the operation of the specialty retail pharmacy, associated telepharmacies and physician dispensing locations. Non-certified technicians will be considered but are required to obtain certification within 6 months.
Illinois CancerCare has 6 specialty retail pharmacy locations, 4 of which are remote-dispensing locations or telepharmacies. These settings allow pharmacy technician staff a great deal of ownership and autonomy in the care of their patients. We operate 8a-5p Monday through Friday, no nights, weekends or holidays.
As a medically integrated specialty pharmacy, our roles in patient care go well beyond filling prescriptions. At Illinois CancerCare pharmacy technicians are involved in both of our Specialty Pharmacy Accreditations. Technicians are actively tracking patient’s treatment cycles, making refill calls and assessing inventory levels on specialty medications. We work closely with the patient’s physician team to ensure quality, compassionate care.
There are several opportunities for advancement with the Specialty Retail Pharmacy – Lead Pharmacy Technician, Specialty Services Pharmacy Technician and Retail Pharmacy Assistant Manager. There are many other areas for advancement within Illinois CancerCare and we support our employees as they express interests in other departments.
