Position Title: Field Technician

Summary: Maintain company’s high standards of quality and professionalism with regards to workmanship, customer relations, and team members.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Willing to travel locally within the state of New York and New Jersey.
  • Ability to provide own transportation to and from work.
  • Experience installing cabling.
  • Clear understanding and experience with DC power.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work; faculty etc.
  • Prior to employment, the following must be addressed:
  • Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person’s offense.
  • Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.2.
  • Pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.3.

  • Requires prolonged sitting or standing
  • Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials.
  • Requires the ability to work in noisy and crowded environments.
  • Occasionally requires stooping, bending, or reaching.
  • Requires some traveling.

Essential Performance Responsibilities (The following description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility.)

The Field Technician is will:

  • Low voltage installations, terminations and test including security systems, alarm, cctv, data/network and A/V
  • Will perform Smartboard/TV installations.
  • Must have good experience in the field, able to communicate in English, friendly to customers
  • Capable of working at construction sites, reading blueprints and electrical diagrams, must be able to read manuals and instructions.
  • Work will include travel to service calls, troubleshoot faults and repair.
  • Must know brands and parts in the security systems field.
  • Must show ability to pull cables and work on Sheetrock/Concrete walls.
  • Provide timely and accurate feedback to management through prompt communication.
  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned
  • Maintain company’s high standards of quality and professionalism with regards to workmanship, customer relations, and team members.
  • Work independently: perform quality work within assigned deadlines without direct supervision
  • must show neatness at work, must have a clean driver license
  • Ability to work occasional overtime, as well as irregular hours and days including weekends and holidays as dictated by project needs.
  • Must be capable of using hand tools such as cable strippers, cable connector crimpers, soldering irons, and other typical tools used in the telecommunication industry.
  • Must have knowledge of how to use a multimeter, wire map, and testing equipment.
  • Must be capable of working in confined areas and access areas on hands and knees for occasional and sometimes extended periods of time in order to complete an installation
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl in all environments (basements, crawl spaces, attic/ceilings, etc.).

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: From $40,000.00 per year
