II Corps is looking for a dynamic Section 508 Specialist to support the Defense Human Resources Activity (DHRA) Military to Civilian Transition Office (MCTO).

Background: The Military-Civilian Transition Office (MCTO) requires programmatic research, analysis, assessments, product development, document drafting, recommendations, coordination, synchronization, and analytic support services for Service members preparing for their next step in life - whether pursuing an additional vocational trade or higher education, finding employment in the public or private sector, or starting their own business; or Reserve Component (RC) members and their families adjusting to pre- and post-activation, mobilization or deployment. MCTO designs cohesive, modular, outcome-based training, events and courses that bolsters and standardizes the opportunities, services, and training to promote effective and efficient support of transitioning Service members and members of the National Guard and Reserve, their families, and communities worldwide.

Position Description: Experience producing or assessing digital instructional materials that adhere to accessibility standards. Identifies and resolves accessibility barriers to provide accessible material and websites. Supports real-time and post-production captioning services to provide accessibility. Evaluates the accessibility of instructional technology devices and software and makes recommendations concerning best practices. Interprets and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws as they apply to disability. Provides accessibility analysis, documentation, and remediation of digital learning experiences. Experience in communication and well-versed in explaining and implementing accessibility and disability standards, regulations, and best practices including WCAG 2.0, Section 508, WAI-ARIA, UAAG and ATAG. Experience with assistive technologies (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, Voiceover, ReadOutLourd, Zoomtext, MAGic, braille keyboards, embossers, textbook conversion, speech recognition, captioning, etc.) and various accessibility tools. Experience in gathering and organizing information to resolve problems and redefine processes and procedures. Experience in collaborating with various levels of government personnel and conducting onsite observations to determine the methods, equipment, and resources for product development. He/she develops solutions or alternative practices and recommends new systems, procedures, or processes. Review and edit correspondence, curriculum, and programmatic documents. Finally, provide recommendations to management through presentations or written reports and confer with managers to ensure changes are effective.

Job Requirements (minimum): This position requires an undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.

Highly Desired Skills: Previous experience working within the Military To Civilian Transition Office (MCTO).
