Responsibilities:
JOB PURPOSE:
Performs cleaning functions in assigned area to maintain an attractive, sanitary and orderly environment contributing to patient comfort, employee morale and staff satisfaction.
Qualifications:
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Command of the English language sufficient to avoid safety risk.
Experience: Previous housekeeping experience helpful.
Technical Skills: Ability to read, write, understand and follow instructions in English. Must be able to stoop, bend, lift up to 25 pounds and use cleaning equipment.
Age and Disability: Via the new-hire orientation process and hospital-sponsored continuing education as appropriate, develops skills and knowledge necessary to interact appropriately with patients and families of the mentally ill.
Other: Neat appearance and the ability to be flexible to adhere to different patient and staff needs.
Contacts: Reports to the Director of Maintenance/Environmental Services. Interacts with hospital staff, Administration, doctors, vendors, contractors and patients and their families.
Environmental Demands: Must be knowledgeable of cleaning materials used and proper precautions to assure patient and staff safety.
Essential Physical/Mental Demands: Excessive bending, stooping and time on feet. Exposure to ready-to-use chemicals at all times with cleaning supplies. Will also work in areas where small amounts of blood could be present, as well as infectious agents.
Manual Dexterity Required: Ability to move arms freely to clean in various areas.
