Job Description

Ignite is seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Strategic Intelligence Analyst with a specialization in futures analysis. As a Strategic Intelligence Analyst, you will be responsible for conducting research, collecting data, and providing insightful analysis to support strategic decision-making and planning. Your primary focus will be on studying emerging trends, anticipating potential future scenarios, and identifying opportunities and risks that may impact the long-term success of the US National Security Strategy. Duties:

  • Futures Analysis: Conduct comprehensive research on emerging trends, technological advancements, geopolitical shifts, societal changes, and other relevant factors that may shape the future landscape. Develop an in-depth understanding of potential future scenarios and their implications for the organization.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyze a wide range of qualitative and quantitative data from various sources, including market reports, academic research, industry publications, expert interviews, and internal datasets. Utilize data analysis techniques and statistical models to extract valuable insights and patterns.
  • Scenario Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and facilitate scenario planning exercises. Use your expertise in futures analysis to generate plausible future scenarios, explore their potential impact on the organization, and identify strategic actions to capitalize on opportunities or mitigate risks.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Monitor and assess the competitive landscape by tracking competitor activities, industry trends, and market dynamics. Identify potential disruptors, analyze their strategies, and provide recommendations to maintain the organization's competitive edge in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Strategic Recommendations: Synthesize complex information and distill it into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations for senior leaders and decision-makers. Communicate findings effectively through written reports, presentations, and data visualizations to facilitate strategic discussions and inform organizational strategies.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including executives, department heads, and subject matter experts, to understand their strategic priorities and information needs. Act as a trusted advisor to the Task Lead, providing timely and relevant intelligence to support their decision-making processes.
  • Technology and Tools: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, analytical tools, and methodologies in the field of strategic intelligence. Leverage these tools effectively to enhance the quality and efficiency of research and analysis processes.
Job Requirements

Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in a related field required / Doctoral Degree is preferred;
  • At least 15 years of strategic intelligence or futures related experience is preferred;
  • An understanding of the national security space environment is preferred;
  • Previous experience as an Intelligence Analyst in a future’s driven environment or as a Futurist in support of an Intelligence Community mission or like type of functional area;
  • Previous US Space Force experience a plus;
  • Previous experience as an Operations Research/Systems Analyst (ORSA) a plus.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team;
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex data from diverse sources;
  • Expertise in futures thinking, scenario planning, trend analysis, and strategic foresight methodologies;
  • Proficiency in using data analysis software and tools (e.g., Excel, Python, R, Tableau) to extract insights and visualize data;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer engagement skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, build relationships, and influence stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong business acumen and a keen understanding of the broader organizational context;
  • Attention to details, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to break down and analyze complex and/or difficult problems;
  • Ability to prepare extensive reports and present findings to clients in a clear and concise manner;
  • Working knowledge of the assigned technology stack;
  • Experience collecting, interpreting, and organizing data or integrating intelligence;
  • Advanced speaking and report-writing skills for effective communication in national security environments with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively to diverse audiences;
  • Ability to recognize and keep sensitive client information confidential.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and visualization tools;
  • Familiarity with knowledge of national security space operations and missions, which can be applied to satisfy key intelligence questions;
  • Demonstrated relevant expertise in understanding of statistical analysis in order to apply mixed-method techniques to strategically analyze information;
  • Demonstrated expertise in employing one or more of the following methodologies: statistical modeling; experimental design; research design; sampling; clustering; data reduction; confidence intervals; testing modeling, or predictive modeling in support of an intelligence mission;
  • Demonstrated relevant expertise with analytic methodologies in support of intelligence production;
  • Demonstrated relevant expertise in identifying, retrieving, manipulating, relating and/or exploiting multiple structured data sets from various sources;
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying knowledge of analytic tools to develop models, visualize data, and perform a range of analyses (e.g., systems analysis, comparative analysis);
  • Demonstrated expertise building/maintaining a database or spreadsheet, performing quality checks and data integrity reviews, developing analysis and visualizations, and explaining and briefing results to technical and non-technical audiences and policy makers.
