The Home Store Associate is responsible for providing superior service to all Home Store patrons. The Home Store Associate will be receiving donations, loading/unloading trucks, assisting customers with their purchases, and accurately and efficiently handling all customer transactions. The Associate will provide customers, donors and volunteers with knowledgeable and courteous service at all times.

Sunday 10:45a - 5:15p and Monday 9:45a - 6:15p are required. Other days and hours will vary week to week.

Store Hours: Mon-Sat 10a-7p, Sun 11a-6p

Expected Hours: up to 28 hours per week

RESPONSIBILITIES:

E- Connotes Essential Functions

E-1 Represent the Home Store by interacting with all customers, donors, volunteers, and clients in a polite and courteous manner

E-2 Greet all patrons and provide excellent customer service, donation processing, and sales services

E-3 Appropriately handle, store and display merchandise without causing damage to donated materials or donor property

E-4 Perform residential and corporate donation pick-ups as instructed

E-5 Process donations and control the movement, cleaning, and organization of donated merchandise

E-6 Assist as required with pricing and research items when necessary

E-7 Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising – working to display merchandise in a safe, attractive manner

E-8 Act as a leader for volunteer team members and ensure they are engaged and feel positive about their Home Store, volunteer experience

9- Operate P.O.S. system to complete customer sales and inquiries

10- Assist in loading customer’s purchases

11- Assist in receiving incoming phone calls, and route calls as directed

12- Assist the Home Store drivers making pick-ups of donations throughout Long Island

13- All other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

A. High School Diploma or GED required

B. Outgoing personality with great communication skills and willingness to learn and grow

C. Desire to work in a fun and fast-paced setting

D. Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities

E. Capacity to work independently or as part of a team, with volunteers and staff

F. Must be detail oriented and able to take direction

G. Must have good computer skills, and working knowledge of MS Office

H. Knowledge of hardware, building supplies, home furnishings and décor a plus

I. Must be able to lift 50 pounds

J. Ability to sit, walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time

K. Ability to bend, reach, climb stairs and lift frequently

L. Ability to be on your feet for up to 8 hours a day

M. Ability to verbally communicate clearly in-person, in writing, and on the telephone

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 28 per week
