POSITION SUMMARY:
IDT Biologika is a leading global CDMO focused on viral vaccines, viral vectors, and other biologics, with end –to-end development and manufacturing capabilities in Germany and the US. IDT works with external partners (Outsourced Testing Labs or OTLs) to complete quality release testing on select assays such as mycoplasma, adventitious virus etc. The role is accountable for end to end management of testing performed at OTLs to ensure active management of the relationship with IDT’s OTL partners, ensure on-time delivery of results, drive technical discussions to resolve any issues, and driving continuous improvements to the relevant business processes.
The role consists of two aspects:
Input into new business proposals: Accountability to keep an accurate record of testing capability of current OTL partners, current pricing, technical pre-requisites, capabilities and risk. Provide input on the best OTL partner for a given program based on technical capabilities, timeline, cost, and other relevant factors.
Management of contracted OTL Testing: Accountability to manage ongoing testing, including reviewing quotes, coordinating sample shipments (domestic and international) ensuring required permits are in place, and reviewing test results to ensure it meets the regulatory requirements. Maintaining detailed sample shipment, testing schedules, and communicating/presenting to the internal and external stakeholders.
Proactively identifying potential technical or logistical issues and interfacing with OTL and internal stakeholders as required to address to ensure on time delivery. The incumbent will also be responsible for building and driving continuous improvements to the business processes in QC for both OTL and internal testing as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain accurate and current information on quotes, capabilities, lead times and capacity availability of partner OTLs.
- Work closely with Project Management to develop and maintain accurate forecast of upcoming testing at OTLs based on project timelines. Have a clear understanding of lead times for all external testing performed at OTLs.
- Coordinate sample shipment and required permits working closely with OTLs and internal stakeholders
- Maintain detailed schedule of sample shipment, testing schedule and communicate the testing status to internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactively identify risks (technical or schedule delays) and drive mitigation action to ensure on-time delivery of test results
- Review test results to ensure results meet the approved specification requirements. In the event of Out-of-Specification (OOS), work with QC and QA and OTLs to drive timely closure of deviations.
- Coordinate documentation final review/approval with the Quality Assurance group.
- Strong time management skills and ability to work independently.
- Maintain compliance with GMP guidelines and ISO requirements.
- Assist and support all quality control activities and deliverables as assigned.
- Demonstrate a "right-first-time" attitude and attention to detail.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Incumbent must possess a B.S. in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific discipline or have at least 5 years of laboratory of experience in biopharma Quality Control.
- Good technical knowledge of viral vector product release testing including adventitious virus testing,
- Coordinate testing with different vendors for Raw Material release, microbial identification testing of environmental monitoring (EM) isolates, and product testing with IDT corporate headquarter located in Dessau, Germany.
- Strong project management and change management skills, with solid communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience in working in cross-functional global teams.
- Able to work in a cGMPs/cGLPs (Good Manufacturing Practices/Good Laboratory Practices) environment.
- Prior experience in management of complex testing at external labs desired.
