Idesign is Hiring a Remote Subject Matter Expert - General Chemistry

iDesign is currently looking for a qualified subject matter expert who are experienced in developing engaging online content that aligns with the Texas General Education Core Curriculum standards for General Chemistry to join our course development team. SME assignments are contract positions that are part-time, temporary on an as-needed basis only. The SME is a remote project-based, 1099 contractor position. We are not able to guarantee any full-time positions as a SME. The opening is for current project needs. Contractors must be able to work daytime, weekday hours in the Central time zone.
Are you that person?

What You'll Do

As the Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will work collaboratively with others on designing learning content, assessments, and other additional resources as needed. You will work closely with several team members, including iDesign leadership, Learning Architects (instructional designers), Learning Technologists, Quality Reviewers, and Copy Editors (and possibly other SMEs), to ensure the design and development of online learning support the partner's vision. You will also work with the Lead Learning Architect/Project Manager to inform them of issues that impact course design development and delivery of the project. SME involvement in a project will be variable based on the workload and your availability.

The successful candidate will work remotely on a contract basis.

You will:

  • Collaborate with Learning Architects and SMEs to design superior online courses supported by research-based best practices in online learning.
  • Establish learning outcomes and alignment of content and assessment to those learning outcomes.
  • Design relevant assessments that align with course learning objectives.
  • Identify relevant open educational resources and appropriate instructional methods for online content delivery.
  • Work with Lead Learning Architect/Project Managers to ensure all deadline dates are met throughout the design and development process.

What You Need to Get the Job Done

  • Master's degree required, Ph.D. preferred in Chemistry or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of curriculum development experience, preferably within higher education, though high school is acceptable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a history of positive results achieved collaboratively.
  • Commitment to the project from start to completion.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in Google Drive and Docs.
  • Ability to design and develop high-quality learning content, assessments, and modules based on specific project guidelines.
  • Available to meet regularly during the week with a Learning Architect (LA) during the design and development stages.
  • Ability to work independently between working meetings with LA and complete action items as identified throughout the process.

What Will Make Us REALLY Love You

  • You establish a collaborative and collegial relationship with teammates while moving projects forward and meeting project deadlines.
  • You have experience utilizing adult learning theory and andragogy/pedagogy to support course development.
  • You have strong organizational skills, excellent follow-through, and exceptional attention to detail.
  • You possess excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills.

This position is not open to applicants residing in or otherwise based in the State of California. Additionally, applicants must be located in the Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific time zones.
