Idaho Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation is Hiring an A/R Medical Billing Specialist Near Meridian, ID

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for follow up on denials, tracking reimbursement levels, and working aging reports. Billing Specialist also provides phone coverage through billing call center, answering billing questions by phone, assisting patients in making payment arrangements and problem solving.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Billing Manager; may receive direction from Administrator and/or Physicians.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follow-up on all outstanding insurance claims at 60-days from the date of service in accordance with practice protocol with an emphasis on maximizing patient satisfaction and practice profitability.
  • Follow-up on all returned claims, correspondence, denials, account reconciliations and rebills within five working days of receipt to achieve maximum reimbursement in a timely manner with an emphasis on patient satisfaction.
  • Assists with processing HCFA 1500 forms and send to insurance companies.
  • Communicates with patients, insurance companies, attorneys, etc. regarding patients’ accounts.
  • Monitors and works unapplied credits, preparing paperwork for refunds for insurance overpayments.
  • Monitors reimbursement of procedures on a continuous basis and identifies changes in reimbursement patterns as assigned. Reports to Billing Manager any changes in reimbursement trends.
  • Performs coding and error resolution requiring independent judgment and knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
  • Understanding of payer rules and medical policies of payers.
  • Anticipate and solve problems from all above areas of responsibility, with the primary consideration being the efficiency of the physicians and the office as a whole.
  • Provides coverage for billing department call center assisting patients with questions regarding their insurance, statements, setting up payment arrangements and problem solving.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding patient accounts status.
  • Covers for co-workers when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with HIPAA Policies and Procedures and adheres to Clinic Confidentiality Policy and all company policies and procedures.

EDUCATION: High school graduate. Additional education through workshops and seminars in CPT /ICD-10 coding, billing procedures and collections.

EXPERIENCE: At least two years healthcare experience in billing and processing of insurance claims and claims resolution.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT coding, and office procedures.
  • Knowledge of third-party and insurance procedures, regulations and billing requirements, and government reimbursement programs.

SKILLS:

  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients and their families, organizations and the general public.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of practice management software.

ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.

  • Ability to prioritize and handle many tasks/projects simultaneously

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a busy office environment and requires desk work. Frequent contact with employees, patients and outside agencies. Public contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sitting required for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity for using a calculator and computer keyboard. Some bending and stooping required.
