Idaho National Laboratory is Hiring an Information Security Specialist Near Idaho Falls, ID

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring an Information Security Specialist. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. You will provide technical and professional expertise in supporting the Information Security Department.
Responsibilities Include
  • Functions as the designated program point of contact in the operation of the Classified Matter Protection and Control (CMPC) and Operations Security (OPSEC) programs
    • Coordinate program operations with applicable Department of Energy Idaho Operations Office (DOE-ID) personnel
    • Chair the CMPC and OPSEC Committees to develop and maintain policies, plans, and procedures; educates and trains employees in CMPC and OPSEC practices and principles
    • Assist the Classification Office in providing oversight and guidance to Classified Matter handlers, custodians, and other staff regarding CMPC and OPSEC policies and procedures
    • Function as custodian for applicable classified accountable matter by meeting federal and local requirements
    • Oversee CMPC destruction activities to include oversight of all Information Security destruction equipment, as well as all control station processes for incoming and outgoing classified mail
    • Ensure INL’s laboratory critical program information list (CPIL) is compliantly documented and maintained observing DOE OPSEC requirements.
  • Review and approve/deny security plan requests as they apply to INL’s OPSEC program for INL’s International Access Program.
  • Assist the Information Security Department with applicable programmatic, compliance, and performance-based assessments in accordance with S&S Performance Assurance Program and applicable DOE Order requirements (i.e. S&S, CMPC, OPSEC, Classification Office, and Technical Security Program [TSP]).
  • Assist in the coordination, direction, interpretation of requirements/regulations, preparation of implementing company procedures, compliance verification, and applicable document reviews/updates for Information Security Programs (i.e. CMPC, OPSEC, Classification Office, TSP).
  • Is the primary point of contact for the Information Security area’s classified workstations and equipment. Function as System Administrator/Coordinator for users of SRDNet workstation in the Information Security Area, including scheduling, escorting, and maintaining “Seal Log” activities for external disk drive
  • equipment connected to classified workstation.
  • As assigned by manager, is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and facilitating the escort of individuals within the Information Security area.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and and 2-5 years of experience OR Master's degree and 1-3 years of experience OR 10-13 years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • Requires demonstrated ability to understand technical principles and communicate technical topics in simple terms.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

  • Salary Grade: PR0200 - 180 ($64,272 – $102,840) / PR0300 - 190 ($72,528 - $119,652)
