Ida-West Energy Company is Hiring an Operations Specialist Near Boise, ID

Ida-West Energy Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of IDACORP, Inc., operates nine jointly-owned hydroelectric power generation facilities. Ida-West Energy is seeking an on-site (no opportunity for remote-work) full-time Operations Specialist to work in our downtown Boise, Idaho office. Under general direction and acting on own initiative and direction, the Operations Specialist will provide ongoing support for the hydroelectric plant Operators, including being responsible for safety programs and procedures, purchasing, power scheduling, maintenance programs and procedures, regulatory compliance, and will assist in annual budgeting and some financial activities. Examples of duties include:

· Administers company safety program and manuals

· Prepares purchase orders, locates parts, works with suppliers and vendors

· Maintains plant documentation including Operations and Maintenance manuals, troubleshooting guides and daily plant maintenance history

· Schedules power generation with schedule resources

· Maintains project production and water data

· Maintains OSHA forms and other federal and state postings

· Administers preventative maintenance programs, including periodic equipment testing

· Maintains equipment and spare parts list

· Prepares and files annual regulatory reports for Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the Department of Energy, as well as water rights reports and records

· Maintains California Independent System Operator (CAISO) certificates

· Assists in preparing the annual project budgets

Required Skills

Knowledge of:

· Basic electricity

· Mechanical and electrical operation

· Waterworks equipment and operations

· General safety processes and compliance procedures

· Purchasing processes and procedures

Skills in:

· Technical aptitude for basic electrical and mechanical principals

· Proficient using personal computers

· Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly in excel

· Demonstrated skills required in adaptability, effective interpersonal communication, contributing to team success, decision making, establish positive working relationships, initiating action, managing work (including time management), quality orientation and safety awareness

· Prefer:

o Strong time management and organizational skills

o Attention to detail and performing work accurately

Ability to:

· Understand and apply mathematical calculations and concepts

· Maintain high productivity with minimal supervision

· Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines

· Respond to emergencies in excess of normal working hours

Minimum Requirements

Education:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Prefer

o Experience with electrical equipment and operations, water works equipment and operations, electrical controls

Licenses/Certifications:

· Valid driver's license

Additional Requirements

· Must be at least 18 years of age

· Workweek is 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday

· Position requires some after hours responsibilities

Physical Ability

This position requires working on-site (no opportunity for remote work) at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, moving files and boxes, and working in close proximity to other people. There will be occasional lifts of 25-30 lbs. from floor. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position.
