Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Medical/Surgical team. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide direct patient care, assess patient needs, and collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans. This position requires strong clinical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Duties:
- Provide direct patient care in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Assess patient conditions and collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes or abnormalities
- Assist with procedures such as gastric lavage, pain management, and neonatal ventilator support
- Educate patients and their families on disease management, treatment options, and preventive care
- Document patient information accurately and timely in electronic medical records (eClinicalWorks)
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
Qualifications:
- Valid Registered Nurse license in the state of Virginia
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical/surgical setting
- Strong knowledge of primary care principles and practices
- Familiarity with workers compensation laws and regulations
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus
- Knowledge of assisted living protocols and procedures
- Ability to work effectively in emergency situations (ER experience preferred)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
