iCare Health Network is Hiring a Dementia Program Specialist- TRD Near Manchester, CT

Dimentia Program Specialist (TRD required)

The primary role of the Dimentia Program Specialist is to ensure that residents are provided with therapeutic social and cognitive entertainment as well as activities, trips and events.

Responsibilities:

Manages Recreation staff and ensures activities are being done on a daily basis.

Reviews all activity calendars for completeness and ensures a variety of activities are planned.

Actively participates, organizes, and monitors activities and events every week.

Responsible for providing training and development to all Recreation staff such as how to encourage participation, event planning, and initiating events.

Plans and manages a comprehensive facility wide therapeutic recreation program with a focus on dementia specific programming.

Qualifications:

Must have experience directing, planning, organizing and monitoring therapeutic programs, activities and events for seniors or physically/ mentally challenged adults in a clinical setting.

A Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Physical Education or related field. COTA certifcation may also apply.

Must have working knowledge (experience preferred) with various software programs such as WORD, OUTLOOK and EXCEL.

Must be able to manage multiple events and programs and work with all disciplines in a challenging multi-cultural environment.

Must be highly organized, energetic, motivated and creative. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to supervise a staff of assistants. Must be able to speak and write the English language.

This position requires 1 years experience in an industry including supervision of staff.

Must have successfully completed a Therapeutic Recreation Director program from an accredited School.
