INFECTION PREVENTIONIST NURSE
Job Summary:
Infection Preventionist: term used for the person designated by Riverview Health Care facility to be responsible for the infection prevention and control program (IPCP). This is designed to provide a safe, sanitary and comfortable environment and to help prevent the development and transmission of communicable diseases and infections. This person reports directly to the DON and partners with the Medical Director, Administrator, Infectious Disease Specialist, Lab and others to develop a system of care that promotes scientific infection prevention principles and practices. Through strategic planning, leadership and consultation, this person will identify and implement infection prevention goals and objectives throughout the facility.
Qualifications:
lMust be a current active licensed Nurse in the state of Illinois
lMust be able to work full time with flexible hours as needed
lMust be willing and able to travel between facilities as needed
lMust be able to perform extended walking and standing periods
lMust maintain current CPR card at all times with knowledge of managing codes
lMust be able to foster effective working relationships
lMust, at a minimum, possess the CDC Infection Preventionist Certification and CMS (QSEP) Training
lMust be able to interpret labs, analyze data and form conclusions
lMust be able to organize, plan and prioritize
lMust be able to read, write, speak and understand English effectively
lMust be accountable to abide by all rules of facility as any other staff member
Responsibilities:
lOversight of the IPCP
lPerform all staff covid testing as scheduled
lPerform all resident covid testing as scheduled
lPerform annual staff and resident TB testing
lPerform annual staff and resident flu vaccines
lMaintain resident pneumonia vaccines as required
lMaintain isolation tracking for all Covid positive and PUI residents and staff
lComplete all weekly hand hygiene observations
lComplete all monthly infrastructure observations
lComplete all monthly QA requirements/forms
lConduct monthly inservices/education at a minimum on infection control
lPerform all N95 Fit Testing for all staff
lOrganize any future vaccine clinics (if required)
lPossess knowledge of Coronavirus, Antibiotic Stewardship and Infection Control policies
lComplete annual LTC Facility Survey
lComplete any contact tracing needed for any positive staff or resident covid case investigating the outbreak
lMaintain surveillance/syndromic logs and report weekly to County Surveyors
lInfection control rounds each visit
lMonitor and oversee the Antibiotic Stewardship program
lAttend monthly QA Meetings
lSubmit reports routinely to facility’s Upper Management and Corporate Staff
lOther duties as assigned by Upper Management within scope of nursing practice.
