Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is Hiring an Attending Physician, Department of Surgery Near New York, NY

Attending Physician, Department of Surgery (employer: Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai; job location: New York, NY) - Provide clinical care and perform medical procedures relevant to the Adult Liver Surgery and Adult/Pediatric Liver Transplant Programs at the Recanati/Miller Transplantation Institute (RMTI). Provide inpatient service and transplant on call clinical rotations, as well as weekend coverage for inpatient and emergent calls. Evaluate new patients and manage the medical care of post-transplant patients. Ensure continuous monitoring and evaluation of the quality and appropriateness of surgical care, take appropriate action as necessary based on findings, and participate in patient satisfaction initiatives for RMTI. Assist in the design, development, and implementation of clinical protocols and administrative policies for the Liver Transplant Program. Oversee and direct all liver perfusion research efforts, and assist with developing research protocols for RMTI. Pursue external research funding, including from NIH. Monitor financial reports and budgets. Participate in continuing education programs for individuals with clinical privileges at RMTI, including educational conferences, morbidity and mortality conferences, and in-service training. Teach students, residents, and fellows. Serve on committees and/or task forces as assigned by RMTI’s Director or the Chairman of the Department of Surgery. Requirements: Doctor of Medicine Degree or foreign equivalent, plus 5-year fellowship or surgical sciences training in Transplant Surgery or Surgical Sciences. Transplant Surgery or Surgical Sciences clinical training must have included performing transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery and using machine perfusion to preserve organs including the liver during surgery. At least two years of the clinical training must have included performing liver, kidney, and small bowel transplantation surgery; and pumping livers in the operating room during liver transplantation. Must be eligible for Medical License with NY State Board of Medicine and have passed FLEX examination or equivalent (i.e. NMBE III or USMLE III).
