IBR (Imagine Believe Realize) is Hiring an AWS Cloud Systems Administrator Near Suitland, MD

The AWS Cloud Systems Administrator must be able to meet the key criteria below:

  1. Location: 100% remote
  2. Years’ Experience: 5 years
  3. Education: Bachelors in Computer Science or IT related field
  4. Security Clearance: IBR is a federal contractor. Applicants must be able to meet requirements to obtain up to a Secret security clearnce. NOTE: United States Citizenship is required to be eligible to obtain a Secret security clearance.
  5. Work Authorization: Must show that applicant is legally permitted to work in the United States
  6. Employment Type: Full-Time, W-2
  7. Key Skills:
    • System Administration experience required
    • Linux and scripting (Bash and Shell) experience required
    • Experience with Ansible required with preferred experience in other DevOps tools such as Jenkins and Git a bonus
    • Experience with monitoring tools and platforms, particularly the Elastic Stack, ELK (Elasticsearch, Kibana)
    • AWS (EKS) experience required
    • Certification in AWS and/or Kubernetes a bonus

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud infrastructure, specifically with AWS and its Kubernetes service, EKS. The ideal candidate will also have proven experience in monitoring, automation, critical thinking, and documentation. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining and improving our production environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.

Responsibilities

  • You’ll work closely with development teams to resolve issues and provide hands-on support for executive-level stakeholders and end users
  • You’ll work to identify and resolve problems that may arise and restoration of full capacity operations for failed application components
  • You’ll provide documentation on issues, root cause analysis, and resolutions
  • You’ll troubleshoot issues on the infrastructure with close collaboration with external stakeholders and infrastructure teams to coordinate efforts
  • You’ll prepare environments for new software releases to ensure current operations and product deployments are uninterrupted or unaffected
  • You’ll provide routine application maintenance or manage planned downtime
  • This position requires after-hours support and rotational weekend support as needed

Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain up to a Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor Degree required
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with systems administration and/or operations support experience in a Linux/Unix environment
  • Must have strong Linux and Scripting (Bash, Shell) experience
  • AWS and EKS Expertise required: Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), particularly with its managed Kubernetes service, Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS). The candidate should be familiar with best practices for monitoring applications within AWS that are using EKS.
    • Experience with DevOps tools and containerization such as Docker, Ansible, Jenkins and GitLab a bonus
  • Ansible Experience required: Proficiency in using Ansible for automation and configuration management. The candidate should have hands-on experience in writing Ansible playbooks to automate the deployment and management of infrastructure and applications.
  • Monitoring Proficiency required: Extensive experience with monitoring tools and platforms, particularly the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana). The candidate should be capable of setting up and configuring monitoring solutions to ensure proactive detection and resolution of issues.
    • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK (Elastic, Logstash, Kibana)
  • Critical Thinking Skills: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical problems, evaluate potential solutions, and implement the most effective resolution in a timely manner. The candidate must be adept at troubleshooting and possess a strong analytical mindset.
  • Documentation Experience: Strong experience in creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for configuration, processes, and troubleshooting guides. The ability to clearly articulate technical details and procedures is essential.
  • Understanding of webserver and middleware applications such as Apache Webserver and Tomcat a bonus
  • Have working experience of system and web application monitoring and troubleshooting methodologies to address reliability, performance, and scalability issues
  • Flexibility to provide after-hours and rotational weekend support to ensure reliability of the production environments 24x7x365
  • Certification in AWS and/or Kubernetes a bonus

Physical Demands

Position consists of sitting for long periods of time, bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting up to 20 pounds. Frequently uses hands/fingers for manipulation of keyboard and mouse.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily indoors at a well-lit office environment. The environment is normally air conditioned, but conditions may change dependent upon circumstances. Work may need to be performed in a fast-paced environment requiring quick thinking and rapid judgements. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of clients in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
