IAT has an immediate opening for a Vice President of Claim Services that can report to one of the following IAT locations:

• Cheshire, Connecticut
• Naperville, Illinois
• Rolling Meadows, Illinois
• Raleigh, North Carolina

This role is part of the Claims Services senior leadership team and will manage diverse and complex claims-related functions, ensuring proper claim settlements inclusive of achieving regulatory compliance for all of claims operations. Furthermore, this role will provide leadership, guidance, direction and mentoring of team managers and will be responsible for operational planning, including staffing and budgeting.

This role works a hybrid schedule from an IAT office listed above. The hybrid schedule reflects our values (thinking and acting like an owner, collaboration, and teamwork) as it requires working from the office with colleagues and other disciplines Monday through Wednesday, with the option of working Thursday and Friday remotely.

Responsibilities:

• Leads day-to-day operations with a focus on execution excellence and continuous improvement.
• Leads a team of complex liability adjusters through the application of Best Practices and strong supervisory skills.
• Drive and develop the technical acumen of the team, handling complex and high severity liability matters.
• Prepare reports (i.e., Large Loss Memos, quarterly claim reviews, etc.) to management which accurately reflect loss development, potential/actual financial exposure, coverage issues, claim and recovery strategies.
• Ensure commercial claim handling strategy is effectively managed, providing direction and support of claims in excess of manager’s authority.
• Coordinate as needed to ensure prompt, efficient, and accurate claim payments by maintaining necessary claim controls, thereby providing high levels of customer service.
• Regularly provide insight into claim committee meetings for claims with an exposure greater than $100,000 and ensure that those claims are reviewed with the Major Case Unit.
• Establish solid reserve practice with adherence to Claim Handling Guidelines.
• Select, develop, motivate and train a quality staff of managers to achieve Claim Department objectives.
• Communicate with other areas within IAT such as Underwriting or Finance to ensure transparency regarding developing claim trends.
• Actively participate in Senior Claim leadership on matters such as staffing, guidelines, strategic planning.
• Monitor and evaluate manager performance, providing frequent feedback. Also responsible for hiring, training, developing and mentoring staff.

Qualifications:

Must have:

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 years of experience actively managing complex liability claims and litigation.
• Equivalent experience is defined as 16 years of relevant claims experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of commercial multiline Property and Casualty claims experience
• Minimum of 10 years management experience.
• Strong claim management experience.
• Superior written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrates high self-awareness—seeks and embraces candid feedback with resiliency.
• Ability to translate vision into concrete business plans and strategies.
• Innovates and appropriately drives change and challenges process.
• Proven track record of coaching, mentoring, and providing career development direction to direct reports.
• Drives effective team behaviors to ensure optimal outcomes.
• To qualify, applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require VISA sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment purposes.

Compensation:

Please note, that the annual gross salary range associated with this posting is $208,695 – $337,590. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base salary for this position. The total compensation will include a base salary, performance-based bonus opportunities, 401(K) match, profit-sharing opportunities, and more. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and geographical location related to this specific role.
