I Would Rather Be Reading is Hiring a Summer Camp Site Director Near Austin, TX

The Position

For this position we are looking for a Site Director who is to report to the Program Director and be the main contact person for the site, implement curriculum, set and reinforce staff and student expectations, and coordinate daily schedules for students.

The Initiative

The Estates at Norwood is an affordable housing community located in mid-Austin. One of their core values is to ensure that residents have equitable access to valuable community resources. This summer, Estates at Norwood is hosting a 6 week, high-quality summer camp for students in grades K-8 completely free of charge to families.

Students will receive social emotional learning, literacy tutoring, and engaging enrichment opportunities in the arts, STEM, career curiosity and development, and more!

We are looking for individuals who will spark student curiosity, build impactful relationships with kids, and provide an amazing summer camp experience.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a positive relationship with youth, adults/guardians, and other staff members.
  • Ability to communicate positively with all participants
  • Implementing curriculum and activities
  • Set and maintain a consistent schedule for students and staff
  • Collaborating with enrichment providers in terms of placement, group scheduling, and assisting with students
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs and circumstances, including strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Providing leadership and guidance for all day camp participants
  • Ability to care for and manage children of all diverse backgrounds

Candidate Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be reliable for specific shift hours
  • Possess a positive attitude and leadership capabilities

Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal

Pay: $27.00 - $29.00 per hour

Expected hours: 28 per week
