Hypercraft is Hiring a Photo & Video Producer Near Provo, UT

Hypercraft’s mission is to make EV technology more-widely available to early adopters who believe in the many benefits of electric propulsion. We are among the first companies in the world to supply complete, electric-powered drive systems (powertrains) for manufacturers of vehicles in the automotive, racing, defense, commercial, and marine industries.
We exist to give bold visionaries and builders of the future access to advanced propulsion technology, and to help those companies more quickly launch and scale their businesses.
We are driven to be the thought leader in our industry. Part of the way we achieve that is through consistent, engaging visual content — making this role an integral part of achieving and maintaining that goal.
Roles & ResponsibilitiesAs Hypercraft’s Photo/Video Producer & Editor, you will share a passion for innovative technology, and pushing beyond limitations. Our ideal candidate is energetic and thrives in a fast-paced, and ever-changing environment — a fearless self-starter that’s un-afraid of the growing and changing demands of a startup environment.
As an ideal candidate, you’re an optimistic and driven collaborator with solid mid-level experience in a fast-paced, constantly changing agency or in-house environment. You’re a self-starter that can conceptualize, plan, shoot, and edit, while prioritizing for multiple projects at the same time — able to clearly and effectively communicate opinions and ideas, both orally and in writing. You are a detail-oriented and organized employee, able to prioritize daily tasks to meet deadlines. Additionally, you are responsible for managing, cataloging, and archiving digital files, and securing, managing, and caring for cameras and other media production equipment. You’re equally comfortable with hand-held point-and-shooting of real-life events, people, and awesome products and machines in action, as well as assembling a scrappy set and lighting, and lining subjects up in a studio setting.
You will work in sync with a cross-functional team to frequently produce high-quality content to be used in a variety of media formats including, but not limited to: digital, web, social media, printed, and event efforts.
You will be responsible for shooting professional-quality video, photography, and editing of final content as we work to educate, inspire, and share our passion for EV performance with the world.
What you create will provide a mix of storytelling, action, technical, and educational content in collaboration with a scrappy team of creative and marketing professionals. You will be responsible for immersing yourself in Hypercraft’s brand standards, knowing our products and technologies inside and out, and having genuine care for the needs of the industries and customers we serve.
  • Reporting to the head of brand & creative, you will work closely with our creative director and marketing team to plan and execute the necessary video/photo content to be shot and edited for our corporate website, social media, and other internal and external content needs.
  • As a basis for some of the video and photo content we will want to produce, you will need to have an understanding of the value of keywords commonly searched online.
  • Must have a working knowledge of common social media platforms and trends, so content reflects best-practices — such as producing effectively in appropriate formats, orientation, duration, trending styles, techniques, and leveraging algorithms for best success.
  • Must function with minimal supervision, taking full responsibility for work assigned. Creating and managing timelines, efficient workflows for on-time delivery of projects, tracking down the dependencies required to complete them, and ensuring appropriate parties are reviewing and approving work with proper stakeholders, clients, partners, and team members.
  • You’ll work more from concept and less from script. Most production needs are on the fly, opportunistic, with minimal staging. You will keep a finger on the pulse of opportunities to capture at a moment’s notice, with great storytelling and post-production skills to create production quality, and to weave pieces together to tell the story in the most captivating and compelling ways possible.
  • You’re creative and scrappy — maximizing opportunities with startup resources, reflecting an authentic view of our real life personalities and storytelling opportunities in ways that should feel relatable and bring our audiences along through the evolution of our growth.
  • As you brainstorm, conceptualize, plan, shoot, and create rough cuts for review and approval, you’ll have endless opportunities to express your creativity. Take ownership as you work collaboratively toward final edits and creative assets.
  • Work to appreciate the value of team input and feedback, and work collaboratively and cooperatively with others — committing to a workplace of teamwork, dignity, and respect. You are passionate enough to do work that you are proud to share. Humble enough to let it go, seek feedback, and make changes. Confident enough to know when it’s good; and committed enough to be sure that expectations are met or exceeded.
Requirements
  • Some overnight and air travel is required to attend certain events or trade shows, but extended travel is minimal. Most of the work to be done will be in and around the office, or on day trips in the Utah area.
  • 3–5 years professional experience as an integrated media production specialist, photographer, videographer, editor — preferably with an in-house creative team, agency, and/or startup working environment.
  • Have proficiency with Adobe CC editing tools for video and photography.
  • 2–4 year degree in a creative field, or work experience equivalent.
  • Digital portfolio and/or reel showcasing a professional body of photo/video work demonstrating a mastery of your craft, in-depth experience, creative excellence, and competence to build consistent brand assets for a variety of media channels and formats.
Bonus Points
  • Skills and qualifications that would bump your application to the front of the line would include: writing, sketching, storyboarding, motion graphics, audio/fx recording and editing, 3D/CGI rendering and animation, drones/FPV, and graphic design and/or illustration skills, and leveraging new software and technology to elevate the brand with each new project deliverable.
  • Passion for EV engineering, performance, and experiencing it through automotive, racing, boating, defense, and technology.
  • If you don’t have some or all of these skills, being energized by new challenges and being able to quickly learn and share new tools, skills, software, and production tricks that elevate the brand (and your game) are also a plus.
Compensation
  • Salary Range: $75k – $90k DOE
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, PTO, and paid holidays
  • Starting Date: Mid- to late- June, 2024
If this sounds like a challenge you would enjoy, let’s talk about a potential future at one of Utah’s hottest startup technology companies.
