POSITION DESCRIPTION

Currently, HGL is seeking a mid-level Environmental Engineer to join our team onsite in Gloucester City, NJ. This is a full-time position supporting the Welsbach Superfund Remediation Site located near Philadelphia, PA. This important project supports the USACE and USEPA in performing remediation of radioactive contaminated soils and materials. Opportunity for Advancement.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

The person hired for this role will be responsible for supporting the execution of environmental remediation and construction projects, both in the office and in the field, which will include:

• Supporting design and construction of a Groundwater Treatment Facility.
• Development of as built drawings and review of subcontractor submittals.
• Development of Scopes of Work, evaluation of bids and subcontractor oversight in field.
• Support during investigation, design, and remediation of radioactive materials from private and commercial properties.
• Development of Excavation plans utility relocates and assessment of options for field condition changes.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role.

Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, chemical or construction engineering. 

This position generally requires at least 7 years of related work experience. The successful candidate will generally have the following skills and experience:

• Experience working on USACE or USEPA environmental projects.
• Experience with the design and construction of remediation projects.
• PE Certification (or ability to test and pass PE Exam within one year). 
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Strong oral communication and field documentation skills.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a history of responsibility, reliability, initiative, and resourcefulness. A strong attention to detail is required. Field documentation will be detailed and 100% complete, maintained in a neat and organized fashion, and legible to others. 

WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT

• Master’s degree in engineering
• 40 hr HAZWOPER Training
• Experience with radiological remediation projects
• Experience with deep excavations and shoring
• Experience with dewatering of deep excavations
• Experience with construction of water/wastewater treatment plants
• The ability to interact effectively with subcontractors.
