Job Summary:

The General Supervisor reports directly to the Production Manager at The Dalles, OR. This role is crucial for our operations at The Dalles, with the General Supervisor tasked with overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the casting line and two saws, which operate continuously, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant education and experience considered.
• In-depth understanding of casting processes, equipment operation, aluminum alloys, standards, and precision instruments. Proficient in interpreting customer orders and using systems to track and improve KPIs.
• Proven effective leadership skills.
• Strong dedication to safety, with the ability to foster a safety-first culture and effectively identify and mitigate hazards.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead, develop and mentor four production supervisors in a 24/7 operation.
• Lead Departmental Daily Management to include continuous improvement efforts to achieve departmental goals related to safety, cost, daily production, on-time delivery, and quality.
• Drive culture toward continuous systematic improvement and waste elimination using team involvement to rapidly eliminate waste through use of small, controlled experiments
• Responsible for performance management evaluation process for the Cast House and Saw employees.
• Ensure standardized work is being followed and work with team members to improve as identified.
• Willingness and ability to hold subordinates accountable for their areas of responsibility.
• Responsible for problem solving and corrective actions.
• Accountable for staffing plan of the Cast House and Saws
• Ability to perform the Production Supervisor role on an as needed basis.
