HX5 is seeking a qualified Software Engineer in support of the Munitions Division program at Hill Air Force Base.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• This individual shall provide experienced engineering and technical resources with conventional munitions background, or related experience, with explosives and explosives theory relative to existing USAF systems.
• Produce architectures which assess users' needs, document planned and existing systems intended to meet the needs, determine deficiencies, develop alternative solutions, recommend solutions to meet the deficiencies, and support development of a plan to implement the chosen solution
• Detail operational requirements and functional interactions within the system and with other systems, considering life cycle costs, logistics supportability, human factors, et al, to determine if the basic building blocks of the system are defined in sufficient detail to support a development program effort
• Experience with munitions supply systems and munitions processes
• Experienced with Information Technology (IT) systems, as well as the design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of software, including familiarity with software Verification and Validation processes
• Experience working on all stages of the software development life cycle (SDLC)
• Develops, codes, tests, and debugs software and applications using Java
• Designs features and makes improvements based on user experience data
• Completes unit testing to identify and fix programming errors
• Uses common testing and software documentation tools
• Writes software documentation guides
• Collaborates with other members of the software development team.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills
• Robust time management skills
• Ability to work autonomously, stay on task, and mitigate distractions
• Ability to control priorities and communicate conflicts
• Ability to adapt to changing environments
• 3 years of experience with Java
• Risk analysis and mitigation
• 3 years of hands-on experience with MS Office products, specifically, Word and Excel
• Knowledge of SQL and standard database concepts

Education andExperience:

• BS degree in Computer Science or Computer Business Systems; this degree requirement may be waived if highly proficient in Munitions IT systems and have a minimum of five (5) years of Munitions IT experience
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification as outlined in DoD 8570.01-M; Security preferred certification

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday during core business hours.

Other Position Requirements:

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
• Must be able to travel, including air travel.
