Under the direction of the West Regional Manager, the Office Manager is responsible for leading the continued expansion and operational performance of the Washington and Oregon office. The Office Manager will position the office team to successfully win and deliver profitable work, increasing the company's market share with city, state, and regional clients. Responsibilities encompass client account management, business development, operations, and community engagement, as well as employee recruitment, development, and retention.

The Office Manager will work in tandem with the Regional Manager to implement enterprise or regionwide enhancements locally, including strategies, programs, and other initiatives. The Office Manager is expected to understand and support Lochner policies and growth initiatives and incorporate those into their office operations, communications, and culture.

The salary range for this position is between $199K and $210K per annum, based on experience and qualifications.


Marketing and Business Development

  • In collaboration with the West Regional Manager and Marketing Manager, develop and implement state marketing and growth strategies in our targeted infrastructure markets of surface transportation, aviation, transit and rail, and water/wastewater.
  • Provide oversight for key/strategic opportunities and ensure pursuit team compliance with client management, pre-positioning, go/no-go, and pursuit strategy best practices and company guidelines.
  • Schedule periodic meetings with key client personnel in coordination with Region Manager, PMs, staff and other members of Lochner as appropriate to assure a positive client experience.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, community events, and other business functions and take an active leadership role in professional organizations at local level.


Team Management

  • Ensure compliance with company expectations for staff utilization and enforce corrective action plans when needed.
  • Assess and anticipate the office's current and future staffing needs, and proactively work with the Talent Acquisition team to fill open positions.
  • Oversee succession plans and where appropriate, support development of defined successor(s) across the team.


Finance and Operations

  • Ensure the profitability of the office and its projects.
  • Measure and monitor budget and operational performance and communicate key metrics and information regularly to the local leadership team and the Regional Manager.
  • Resolve high level operational issues as soon as practicable and take actionable steps to remediate impacts and enhance performance.
  • Where possible, and in agreement with the Regional Manager, the Office Manager will maintain a defined level of chargeability. Office Managers without a chargeability expectation will be required to assume a greater level of responsibility as approved by the Chief Operating Officer. At times, an Office Manager may support an office in a program/project management role.
  • Maintain communications within the office and region in support of efficient decision- making, team engagement, and collaboration.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of diversified engineering experience, including technical and managerial roles.
  • Degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in operations and project management.
  • Demonstrated track record of scaling a business and team for growth.
  • Ability to develop effective long-term relationships with clients, teaming partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Must be alert to equipment in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
