Hutchinson Community College is Hiring an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach (ADM3310) Near Hutchinson, KS

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions –

  • Assist the Head Basketball Coach in the men’s basketball program in the areas of recruiting (in and out of state), coaching/teaching, scouting, and equipment distribution.
  • Breakdown film of opponents.
  • Supervise all student grades, class checks and work with academic advisors of all team members.
  • May serve as a classroom instructor.
  • Coordinate study hall and academic improvement sessions.
  • Facilitate pre and post practice workouts for skill enhancement.
  • Serve as the point of contact for the men’s basketball program with the financial aid office.
  • Assist in arranging pre- and post-game meals.
  • Perform work related responsibilities, as assigned, on nights and weekends.
  • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  • Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Serve actively on campus committees.

Secondary –

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Successful background in coaching basketball.
  • Involvement and successful background in the recruitment of student athletes preferred.
  • Ability to work, communicate and develop rapport with students, faculty, administration, alumni, media and the general public.
  • Proven record of successful out of state recruiting.
  • Availability to work evenings/nights and weekends.
  • Physical requirements include excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; moderate indoor work environment.
  • Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.
  • Physical and mental qualifications must be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • The qualifications listed are guidelines for selection purposes; alternative qualifications may be substituted if sufficient to perform the duties.

SALARY and STATUS:

The salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This full-time administrative staff position is 12 months annual, fringe benefit eligible, at-will, and exempt.

The hired candidate will be required to submit official, non-issued to student, transcripts.

HutchCC CSA Job Description Addendum:

  • Satisfy the duties of a Campus Security Authority (CSA) relating to Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (“Clery Act”) by:
    • Promptly reporting Clery Act crimes and/or allegations of Clery Act crimes to the designated HutchCC official(s) in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures;
    • Completing any HutchCC provided CSA training regarding campus safety and crime reporting issues;
    • Assisting in the issuance of timely warnings and emergency notifications in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures;
    • Serving as a resource to students, employees, and others regarding crime prevention, reporting and victim assistance; and
    • Collaborating with the Coordinator of Campus Safety, the Coordinator of Equity & Compliance, and the Director of Human Resources, regarding campus safety and compliance issues.
    • A professional counselor, as designated by HutchCC and whose official responsibilities include providing mental health counseling to members of the HutchCC community, may be exempt from reporting Clery Act crimes and/or allegations of Clery Act crimes when functioning within the scope of the counselor’s license or certification.
