Adjunct Graphic Design Instructor 

Position Summary; Adjunct instructor for the BFA department. The instructor will be a working professional as well as a teacher and have experience and a strong foundation in commercial art applications. The instructor will have a broad understanding of the aesthetics of design and effective technology. Through the use of art and design principles this concentration will prepare students to become successful graphic designers are creative problem-solvers. The instructor will be fully capable of stressing the importance of typography, concept development, image creation, layout, teamwork, production, and disciplined business practices. The instructor will plan, prepare and deliver quality instruction to students utilizing approved course curriculum and instructional methods that accommodate multiple learning modalities. 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Art, Graphic Design, or related discipline

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of related practical work experience required in graphic design.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred

Position Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate organized, engaging classes based on course objectives and course curriculum
  • Assess student learning using appropriate methods
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress; provide feedback and advising to students regarding progress
  • Effectively resolves student concerns or complaints
  • Participate in new student orientation, graduation and other campus events, as appropriate
  • Participate in professional development activities to maintain currency in the field and with instructional and educational practices and methods
  • Other duties as required
