Husqvarna Group is Hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer - Contract Near Charlotte, NC

The Supplier Quality Engineer ("SQE") is responsible for ensuring that suppliers continue to develop and implement best practices that emphasize defect prevention, reduce variation and waste, develop continuous improvements to meet quality standards, minimize quality costs, and maximize customer/consumer satisfaction whilst ensuring that procedures and processes are adhered to. The SQE is the technical liaison between Sourcing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and the Supply Base.
What You Need to Know:
  • Establish, maintain and improve supplier quality assurance across supply base.
  • Perform audits on new and existing suppliers with the purpose of evaluating the expected quality performance of the supplier, and provide relevant information into supplier selection decision forums and commodity management
  • Guide the suppliers through the APQP process and approve the result of the suppliers Advanced Product Quality Planning ("APQP") work.
  • Provide support to the supplier during the corrective action process effecting internal and external customers.
  • Develop improvement actions for underperforming suppliers designed to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting Husqvarna Group quality requirements. Actions may include: process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and throughput analysis, 6-Sigma, 5S and Kaizen events.
  • Participate in internal and external drawing reviews to synchronize the demands in order to reduce risk and avoid misunderstanding.
  • Coordinate with Commodity Managers and Project Sourcing Managers in the selection, assessment and approval of supplier and purchased parts.
  • Verify supplier PPAP submissions for all new part designs within assigned New Product Development ("NPD"), Other Material Variance ("OMV"), and Purchase Price Variance ("PPV") projects.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or other relevant discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with supplier quality related topics
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • Possession of recognized qualification in quality engineering, audit processes and relevant certifications (e.g. Six Sigma) is preferred
  • Thorough working knowledge of quality systems methods and quality engineering practices (APQP, PPAP, Root Cause Analysis, Lean manufacturing concepts, etc.)
  • Strong planning, organization, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., tact/diplomacy, listening, negotiation, consulting).
  • Knowledge and experience in working in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% as required to domestic locations and work extended hours, including overtime and weekends.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System and databases.
  • Experience performing Full Supplier Quality Audits ("FSQA") and Process Audits with new and existing suppliers
  • Demonstrated ability to handle large projects and bring to conclusion. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize resources and project timelines.
  • General knowledge of Supply Chain Management or Quality Engineering practices as well as automated and manual procurement systems.
  • Relevant experience in reading and interpreting technical drawings / specifications
