Huron Casting, Inc. is Hiring a Training Manager Near Pigeon, MI

Job Summary:

The Training and Development Manager is responsible for improving the productivity of the organization's employees. This position assesses company-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for employees. This position actively searches, creatively designs, and implements effective methods to educate, enhance performance, and recognize performance.

Position Supervisory Responsibility: Production training supervisors at multiple plants.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assesses training needs and identifies all areas for improvement in employee skills, knowledge, and performance. Utilizes surveys, focus groups, interviews, and communication with plant management and production training supervisors, and trainers to conduct assessments.
  • Develops training and development programs and objectives by collaborating with plant leadership, HR, safety and quality leaders, and trainers.
  • Develops effective plant level training supervisors and trainers through proper selection, training, and motivation, with assistance from HR; provides effective direction, counseling, and coaching to maximize their effectiveness.
  • Obtains and /or develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of media.
  • Trains and coaches managers, supervisors, and others involved in employee development efforts to ensure they deliver effective training.
  • Evaluates training effectiveness against measures and makes necessary changes to meet the needs of employees and the company.
  • Develops and presents training programs for all employees including orientation, job specific skills training, and leadership development using a variety of methods.
  • Assesses training materials prepared by plant level production training leaders and team.
  • Ensures all training programs comply with company policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains training records and provides regular reports on training outcomes and activities.
  • Collaborates with outside consultants and training providers to deliver training.
  • Identifies and recommends training tools and technologies to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of training.
  • Plans, organizes, facilitates, and orders supplies for employee development and training events.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
  • Works effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR staff.
  • Adheres to, monitors, enforces, and serves as a role model for all safe work practices in the offices and plants including use of proper PPE while keeping current with applicable safety training.
  • Lead company recognition program and encourage ideas and suggestions from employees.
  • Participate in writing work instructions/SOPs as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to develop an effective training lead and production trainers at multiple different plants, working collaboratively with management and production supervisors.
  • Ability to assess training needs, develop plans, and evaluate effectiveness.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence and communicate messages clearly and appropriately to all types of people and show active listening.
  • Proficiency in general math skills.
  • Demonstrated computer skills using word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and database programs with willingness to learn new applications. Familiar with HRIS and LMS programs.
  • Strong knowledge of training methodologies, adult learning principles, and instructional design.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
  • Ability to design and implement effective training and development.

Education/ Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Education, Human Resources, or related field required.
  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential (preferred)

Required Experience:

  • Two to four years of experience designing and implementing employee development programs in a manufacturing or foundry setting.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Pay will be commensurate with experience.
