Hurleyville Performing Arts Centre/Tango Cafe is Hiring a Technical Assistant Near Hurleyville, NY

Overview: The Technology and Event Production Specialist (Tech Specialist) is responsible for managing a wide range of technology including Mac/Windows PCs and servers, and advanced networking and telecommunications infrastructure, event production software, and lead management software; producing high quality events for national, regional, and international constituents. These eclectic events will be held in-person, remote or in a hybrid format, and scale from small groups of participants to undetermined exposure for remote events.

Event production duties include but are not limited to

  • managing all audio/visual aspects and live production of both in person and electronic events.
  • Working in a service role with contracted lighting designers and sound technicians when contracted

Position may have to work off regular hours based on projects and deadlines and may occasionally need to be on call.

Event Support

  • Manage events from the production standpoint.
  • Troubleshoot problems with ALL equipment, and schedule and complete basic repairs.
  • Maintain, organize and inventory in house equipment
  • Occasionally serve as primary contact person for event production requiring AV beyond the typical HPAC events.
  • Performs all pre-event technical checks, advising on sound, light, and environment and or serving the contracted designers in this role.

Technology Support

  • Administer, maintain and support the multiple operating systems, servers, advanced networking and telecommunications infrastructure (hardwire and wireless).
  • Maintain updates, back-ups, and antivirus protection for all laptops, handhelds and PCs, as well as departmental printers.

Technology duties include, but are not limited to

  • installation/configuration/upgrades of OS & applications, daily administrative tasks including maintenance of user accounts, monitoring system resources, performing backups, maintenance of departmental printers and ensure network security.

Qualifications Required

  • 3 years of experience in the field.
  • Experience with operating systems, backup systems and protocols
  • Experience with firewalls and other security protocols
  • Experience of administering servers and Local Area Networks
  • Experience in Zoom, and other virtual conference platforms
  • Must be well organized and communicate well with non-technical and technical users
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to keep abreast with latest technologies
  • Skilled in the principles and practices of IT services organization, administration and planning
  • Must be physically able to lift and move a variety of machines and equipment, including computers and event production equipment
  • Experience with video editing (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, iMovie) is a plus
  • Must be available nights and weekends

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ingest the Films
  • Ingest the Keys
  • Cinema Slides/ Render the slides
  • Schedule Film Watchers – for quality control
  • Manage Operations of the cinema screening.
  • Coordinate the booking of screenings
  • Run films and oversee all technical functioning of screenings & screening rentals
  • Work closely with House Manager when needed for Day-of coordination of part-time cinema crew
  • Coordinate digital assets, slides and reels for cinema and online programs as requested
  • Basic digital editing - post show production for online events as requested
  • Communicate with rental coordinator in a timely manner regarding Cinema Rentals
  • Communicate with web coordinator to ensure website is reflective of cinema bookings 
  • Operate and manage projector for all cinema bookings: public screenings and private rental

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 – 40 per week
