Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by physician, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce image of organ on photographic film. Measures radioactivity, using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors. Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician. Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.
1. Coordinate and participate in activities relating to the filing, retrieval and distribution of Nuclear Medicine films, film folders and reports ensuring adherence to established procedures and priorities.
1. Pulls and prepares Paper work for daily
Operations.
2. Communicates by telephone and directly with
health providers regarding Nuclear Medicine
Procedures in a responsible manner.
3. Complies with all HIPAA regulations concerning
Patient records.
2.Performs general departmental clerical duties with proficiency.
1. Greets patients in a pleasant manner.
2. Enters charges as appropriate for each patient.
3. Coordinates Nuclear Medicine schedule
in order to provide most effective use of
Department resources.
4. Assists Nuclear Medicine Technologists when
Requested.
5. Assist Radiologist and other physicians as
Needed.
3. PACS
1. Completes all exams timely in PACS
2. Properly performs procedure for making patient CDs.
3. Verify that written physician order matches order in
PACS.
4. Helps to Ensures that Stat or Now folders are sent
For, from off-site in a Timely manner, for any
comparison needs
4. Utilities proper body mechanics to prevent injuries.
1. Utilizes carts to transport multiple/heavy folders.
2. Bends knees when lifting from lower shelves.
3. Considers weight factors before moving multiple
Folders.
4. Asks for help from co-workers when needed.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience RequiredEducation/Licensure: Must a graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine program and eligible for the nuclear medicine registry. Experience: One year of hospital experience preferred, but new graduates considered. Additional Skills/Abilities: BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period. Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
