Position SummaryResponsible for implementing the Nutrition element of the Dr. Dean Ornish Program for reversing Heart Disease. Oversees the food service and monitors the nutritional adequacy of each participant. Actively participates in the interdisciplinary team process. Primary Position Responsibilities
Implementation of Nutrition element of the Dr. Dean Ornish Program for Reversing Heart Disease.
Food Service Preparation following the Ornish Program protocols and guidelines.
Participates in interdisciplinary team and trans-disciplinary development
Professional Development.
QualificationsMinimum Education:Required:â— Certificate and/or Advanced Specialized or Technical Training, Registration or Registration Eligible â— Bachelor’s Degree in Food, Nutrition or related field Preferred:â— Masters preferred. Required:Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation):â— One to three years of clinical experience in a hospital setting Preferred:â— Experience in counseling and coaching individuals in making lifestyle changes supportive comprehensive dietary changes. â— Experience in meal planning, preparation, cooking and shopping prescribed by low fat vegetarian nutrition guidelines. â— Health coaching experience. â— Research experience Required:License, Registry or Certification:â— Registration by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, or CDR â— NJ License Preferred:â— Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Required:Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:â— Knowledgeable about research and the role of dietary factors in heart disease, and exhibits an ability to explain these concepts clearly to participants. â— Excellent public speaking skills and knowledge of adult education and coaching principles. â— Excellent with computers, computerized charting, kitchen function and equipment, excellent communication and critical thinking skills, excellent leadership and organizational skills. â— American Heart Association BCLS certification.
